Rosters Announced for 2012 McDonald's All-American Game

by Alex Schwartz

Yesterday evening on ESPNU, the rosters for the 2012 McDonald's All-American Game were announced to the public. I think the voters did a fantastic job this year and
should be commended. Based off the Northstar Basketball 2012 Top 150, 20 of the top 22 eligible players made the prestigious game.

The only two from that group who did not make the cut were #19 Robert Carter, a 6'8 power forward out of Shiloh (GA) who signed with Georgia Tech and #22 Justin Anderson, a 6'5 small forward from Montrose Christian (MD) who is headed to Virginia.

The list of top 22 eligible players actually extended to the 27th ranked player, so Anderson was not actually the last player in that group. The reason for this is that five elite players were ineligible for the game. Four players (#4 Steven Adams, #7 Kaleb Tarczewski, #8 Mitch McGary, and #20 Ricardo Ledo) are fifth-year players, while #1 Nerlens Noel reclassified from 2013 to 2012 too late to make the game.

The full list of players includes 24 of the nation's elite seniors, all in the top 50 of the rankings. The full roster is below. Players with an asterisk next to their name were also selected to participate in the Jordan Brand Classic.
