Northstar Basketball 2012 Top 150- February Edition

by Alex Schwartz

For some high schools across the country, the basketball season is close to wrapping up. For others there is still a month or two remaining. Either way, player have had ample opportunity to make an impression, either good or bad, since the summer.

Thus, it is now time to release Northstar Basketball's updated rankings for the senior class. There has been some movement since the Nothstar Basketball Post-July 2012 Top 150 was released nearly six months ago. The changes begin at the very top of the list with a new No. 1 player.

Nerlens Noel, a 6'11 center from the Tilton School (NH), was originally in the class of 2012, but moved to 2013 after an injury during his freshman season. However, Noel (pictured) recently decided to reclassify back to 2012 and he takes over the top spot on the list. An elite defensive player with incredible shot blocking ability, Noel continues to develop and his offensive arsenal is improving rapidly.

Shabazz Muhammad, a 6'6 small forward out of Bishop Gorman (NV), moves to the No. 2 spot, but through no fault of his own. The explosive wing is an elite player with an impressive overall game, a great motor and a competitive nature. The most versatile player in the country, Kyle Anderson of St. Anthony's (NJ), checks in at No. 3. At 6'8, Anderson is a natural point guard and has spectacular court vision. However, the UCLA commit is also more than capable of playing either forward spot and can help a team in a variety of ways.

The highest ranked addition to the list is 6'11 center Steven Adams of Notre Dame Prep (MA), who is headed to Pitt. A native of New Zealand, Adams just recently came over America and is a player with a ton of upside. DaJuan Coleman is the third center in the top five and the 6'9 star from Jamesville-DeWitt (NY) is a load in the paint. The Syracuse-bound big man has a superb blend of size, athleticism, length, and skill.

Note that Northstar Basketball is including post-graduate players in its rankings for the first time. Eight players on the list fit that bill, so some players may have fallen in the rankings simply due to those additions rather than poor performance.

Without further ado, have a look at the Northstar Basketball 2012 Top 150- February Edition.
