Daniel Ochefu Discusses Big Win

by Alex Schwartz

On Tuesday night, Daniel Ochefu, the best in-state big man to sign with Villanova in years, had an excellent showing with his future head coach in stands.

However, Jay Wright was not the only member of the Wildcat hoops family in the house to see Ochefu lead his Westtown School (PA) squad to a triple overtime upset victory against Amile Jefferson and Friends Central (PA).

VU assistant coach Billy Lange, current players James Bell, Darrun Hilliard and Markus Kennedy, as well as ex-Wildcat Mike Nardi were all in attendance too.

All of them, as well the rest of the packed house-including Duke head coach Mike Krzyzewski-were treated to a great game, in which Ochefu was the top performer.

The 6-foot-10 center's interior play at both ends of the floor was key in Westtown's 54-52 win. In fact, in the decisive third overtime, he had four of the team's six points and a big defensive rebound that led to a transition bucket for the other score.
