Senior Guard Chris Jones Remains Open
by Alex Schwartz
Monday was the opening day of the Jingle Bells Jubilee in Paterson, N.J. and Northstar Basketball was on hand for three of the four games. During the second affair, 6'5 senior
guard Chris Jones led Taneck (NJ) to a big win over Passaic (NJ) and took some time afterwards to discuss his recruitment.
Jones listed Rhode Island, Boston University, Hofstra, La Salle, San Diego, and Siena as "the main ones" involved with him right now. The smooth wing scorer said that he has scholarship offers from all of those programs except URI.
"No, no favorites," Jones said of whether any schools are standing out to him at this point in time.
Asked if he has a timetable for a commitment, Jones replied, "No, I'm just looking for the right school, that's really it."
Jones continued to to talk about some of the factors he will be taking into consideration as he does move towards making a college choice.
"Just good academics [and] somewhere I can go in, get playing time right way," Jones said. "That's really all I'm looking for."
Thus far, Jones said that he has taken unofficial visits to both La Salle and Siena, but noted that he does not have any trips planned.
"Not yet," he said. "I'm just really taking my time right now [and I am] worried about the season."
Speaking of the season, what are Jones' goals for his final year at the high school level?
"State championship and to repeat as Jamboree champions," Jones said.
