November Conference Recruiting Breakdown: 6. SEC
by Alex Schwartz
Last recruiting cycle, the SEC finished as the top-ranked conference for its impressive haul of talent. This time around, the conference is last amongst the six
BCS conferences after the early signing period.
The Southeastern Conference has more programs listed in the Team Recruiting Rankings—including Honorable Mentions—than the No. 5 ranked Pac-12 and an equal amount as the No. 4 ranked Big Ten. However, it lacks both top-end talent and depth.
Of the BCS conferences, the SEC is tied for the least number of commits from the top 25 and top 50 of the Northstar Basketball Post-July 2012 Top 150 and has the least ranked pledges overall. The SEC simply cannot come even close to even comparing with the No. 1 ACC, No. 2 Big East or No. 3 Big 12 at this point, but the three-time defending overall champion in its conference, the SEC should not be counted out with nearly five months to the late signing period.
Below is a look at how the members of nation's reigning top-ranked recruiting conference are faring on their efforts with 2012 prospects.
