November Conference Recruiting Breakdown: 5. Pac-12
by Alex Schwartz
For the class of 2011, the Pac-12 finished No. 6 in the conference recruiting rankings, last amongst the BCS conference schools. In 2012, things are not all that
much better, as the Pac-12 is at No. 5 right now.
Of the six high-major conferences, none have less schools either ranked or listed as Honorable Mentions in the Team Recruiting Rankings than the Pac-12 Conference. Conferences such as the ACC at No. 1 and the Big East at No. 2 are way ahead at this point, but there is certainly time to make up ground.
The Pac-12 also checks in behind the third-ranked Big 12 and fourth-ranked Big Ten, but there is not as much of a gap, especially from four to five. The main reason for that is that the Pac-12 is the only conference with two top 10 players in the Northstar Basketball Post-July 2012 Top 150. In fact—not counting Drummond— two of the top five committed players and three of the top nine off the board are pledged to Pac-12 schools.
Now, have check out how the members of the Pac-12 are faring in recruiting during the conference's first year with a dozen schools.
