November Conference Recruiting Breakdown: 4. Big Ten
by Alex Schwartz
The Big Ten is in its first year as a a 12-team conference and the crop of freshmen in the conference were ranked No. 5 coming out of high school. Right now, the
Big Ten is at No. 4 when it comes to the conference rankings for the 2012 recruiting class.
Only four members of the Big Ten are ranked in the Team Recruiting Rankings, though another one is listed as an Honorable Mention. The Big 12 took the No. 3 spot over the Big Ten due to having much more top-tier talent, but it was not by all that wide of a margin. The ACC at No. 1 and the Big East at No. 2 were much more clear cut.
Amongst BCS conferences, the Big Ten is tied for last in number of top 10 and top 25 prospects from the Northstar Basketball Post-July 2012 Top 150. However, the the conference is in the top half when it comes to how many top 100 and top 150 players are on their way to member programs.
Below is a look at how the dozen teams in the Big Ten Conference are looking in terms of their 2012 recruiting hauls with the early signing period well in the rear view mirror.
