National Preseason High School Top 100- Part Two: 51-75

by Alex Schwartz

The college basketball season kicks off for a few teams this evening, while the high school basketball season is right around the corner. Thus, it is time for Northstar Basketball to release its preseason rankings of the top 100 high school teams in America.

The top 100 list will be released in five segments, plus a comprehensive list at the end with some notes on the rankings. For each team, I will provide an overview of the squad. With each segment, the size of the overview will increase and be filled with more information.

The rankings include both public and private schools, but not prep schools. For these purposes, prep schools are defined as schools that have fifth-year players and/or post-grads, plus all NEPSAC schools. Thus, teams such as Arlington Country Day (FL), Brewster Academy (NH), South Kent (CT), Tilton School (NH), and Wesleyan Christian Academy (NC) are ineligible.

Without further ado, here is the second segment of Northstar Basketball's National Preseason High School Top 100. This segment will include the teams ranked 51 through 76. Segment one (teams 76-100) can be seen by clicking Here.

51. Chester (PA)- It is talented junior forward Rondae Jefferson who is the star of the best public school team in the state of Pennsylvania. Tavaune Griffin, Erikk Wright and Darius Robinson are senior leaders for the Clippers, who had an outstanding 2010-11 season.

52. United Faith Christian Academy (NC)- Led by a trio of seniors in Florida-bound Braxton Ogbueze, Indiana-pledge Peter Jurkin and Wichita State-commit Henry Uwadiae, UFCA should be a major force in North Carolina. The team has talented role players in John Edwards, Ivan Benkovic and Zach Davis.

53. Quality Education Academy (NC)- Three senior transfers will lead the way for QEA, in Georgetown-pledge Brandon Bolden, Dayton-commit Jevon Thomas and uncommitted Cinmeon Bowers. While they will do most of the heavy lifting, Tevin Findlay and Jordan Robinson are nice supporting players.

54. DeSoto (TX)- Junior sharpshooter Matt Jones is clearly the best player on the team, but the Texans are not without other standouts. Benquan Petty, New Hampshire-bound Frank Owkeke, Jabril Durham, Raheem Wilson, and Avery Lomax ensure that teams cannot focus in on Jones too much.

55. Friends Central (PA)- Ultra-productive senior forward Amile Jefferson is the undisputed superstar for the Keystone State squad. He will be aided by a pair of younger players in the backcourt in Conrad Chambers and Karron Davis, who are talented in their own right.

56. Shiloh (GA)- The Peach State school was bolstered by the transfer of elite senior big man Robert Carter, a big-time scorer. He teams with sophomore post Trayvon Reed to form an elite interior duo, while Jordan Gaither is the team's other impact player.

57. Upper Room Christian Academy (NC)- Rodney Purvis, a North Carolina State commit, is arguably the best pure scorer in the nation. Tyrek Coger and Waymond Wright provide URCA with other scoring options in addition to the senior star.

58. Junipero Serra (CA)- Big men Daddy Ugbede and Emmanuel Ndumanya are the top two players for this Golden State squad. However, this is a deep team with a roster that includes Dakarai Tucker, Jacqui Biggins, Kejon Mack, and JoJo Zamora.

59. Lincoln (CA)- This is one of two top 100 teams led by twin brothers in the class of 2013, Tyree and Tyrell Robinson are both standout players who will team to carry this squad. Jerry Cobb will look to take some pressure off the twins.

60. Basha (AZ)- In a state not known for hoops, this team from Arizona has some major talent at the top of its roster in juniors Torren Jones, Maurice Kirby and Jaron Hopkins. It is Jones who will be the go-to player for the Bears, who also have Nathan Markovich, Eddie Little and Daquise Gaines.

61. Rainier Beach (WA)- The best team in the state of Washington is led by senior transfer Anrio Adams as well as junior forwards Niles Fuquan and Djuan Piper. The final player of note for this talented squad looks to be Lavell White.

62. St. Raymond's (NY)- Led by seniors Daniel Dingle, a Temple pledge, and Iowa State-commit Nkereuwem Okoro, the Ravens look to be the best team in the Big Apple this year. Shane Rector is a talented floor general, while Souflyane Diakite, Dwayne Foreman and Myron Hickman are all capable of being impact players.

63. Southwest DeKalb (GA)- This is basically a two-man team, but the duo leading the charge are major 2012 talents. Memphis-commit Shaq Goodwin is one of the country's elite big men, while Auburn-bound guard Jordan Price is a terrific scorer.

64. Lawrence Central (IN)- The go-to player for this Hoosier State team is undoubtedly star wing Jeremy Hollowell, a senior who is headed to Indiana. He is joined by Tyler Corley and Richard Freeman to form a quality trio for the boys from the Indianapolis area.

65. Long Beach Poly (CA)- Coming off a terrific season, the Jackrabbits will once again be a force to be reckoned with and are led by juniors Roschon Prince and Jordan Bell. They will be aided by Jaffar Holmes, Chris Croom and Ke'Jhan Feagin.

66. Strake Jesuit (TX)- John Gillon should be a nice complimentary player, but this Lone Star State team is going to go as far as Rasheed Sulaimon can take it. The senior guard is headed to Duke and is an elite scorer and defender.

67. La Verne Lutheran (CA)- A couple of future Arizona teammates are the team's key players, as top-notch senior big man Grant Jerrett and solid junior point guard Eric Cooper, Jr. will reunite at the next level. McKay Anderson, Nnamdi Okongwu and Brian Beard are the team's essential role players.

68. The Village School (TX)- Maryland-bound senior Shaquille Cleare is one of the top big men in the nation and will carry this squad out of Texas. He will get support from Dylan Jones, Gary Smith and Isaiah Taylor this season.

69. Linn-Mar (IA)- The top team in the state of Iowa is coming off an undefeated season, but will rely upon just one player to carry it this year. However, that one player is North Carolina-bound Marcus Paige, arguably the best senior point guard in the country.

70. Hightower (TX)- One of 2012's top wing prospects, Houston-pledge Danuel House, is going to be counted upon to carry this team. The other primary option for the boys from Texas is Ryan Brown, but as goes House goes the Hurricanes.

71. The Rock School (FL)- Sophomore star Mitchell Wilbekin is the team's best player, but by no means its only option. Glen Feidanga, Alain Chigha, Devaughn Jenkins and Pape Dialta are all talented players in their own right, while Christian Benzon and Austin Harrell can produce too.

72. St. John Bosco (CA)- Boosted by the transfer of Jordan Hamilton's younger brothers Isaac and Daniel, this is now one of the better teams in California. Kameron Murrell is another talented guard in the fold, while Darryl Matthews and Eris Winder are not to be overlooked either.

73. St. Patrick's (NJ)- Nearly every player from last year's mythical national runner-up is gone, as is head coach Kevin Boyle, but the Celtics will be good nonetheless. The New Jersey squad is led by juniors Jared Nickens, DeAndre Bembry, Kindell Kinloch, and Jo-el Samuel along with Trevis Wyche and Dana Raysor.

74. Southwind (TN)- If elite senior Jarnell Stokes was eligible, this ranking would be significantly higher, but led by big-time junior forward Jonathan Williams III, the Jaguars will make noise anyway. "J3" teams with Jajuan Johnson and Charles Smith for the talented Memphis squad.

75. Patterson (MD)- The boys from Baltimore are coming off a superb season and are led by one of the most productive high school players in the nation in junior Aquille Carr, a diminutive lead guard with elite athleticism and quickness. Myrek Lee-Fowlkes will be there to lends support for the team's superstar.
