Final Four for Brice Johnson
by Alex Schwartz
There were not many players in the nation who boosted their stock this summer more than Brice Johnson, a 6'9
power forward out of Edisto (SC).
In the Northstar Basketball Pre-July 2012 Top 100, Johnson was ranked #88. After his impressive showing during the Live Evaluation Period, he rose to #47 in the Post-July 2012 Top 150. That rise of 41 spots was the largest jump of any player who was in both set of rankings.
The #16 power forward in the country, Johnson is the 18th best available player in the class of 2012. The long, athletic frontcourt prospect is down to four schools.
The best player in the state of South Carolina said via text message on Monday night that he is still considering North Carolina, Florida, North Carolina State, and Clemson.
"All of them except Clemson," Johnson said of which ones he has taken an official visit to.
Asked if he plans to make an official trip to the ACC school, Johnson responded, "I'm not sure yet I'm trying to find a date."
Although he said he has "not recently" been on an unofficial visit to any of the schools on his list, Johnson said he has taken the short trip to Clemson "plenty of times."
At this point in time, Johnson said that he does not have any favorites in his recruitment. However, he said he plans to commit "some time soon."
Johnson added that he is going to be signing in the early signing period, which begins in exactly 30 days, on November 10th. Players have through the 17th to sign a National Letter of Intent, so Johnson has just over five weeks to make his decision if he does indeed ink in the early period.
