Two Coming After DeOndre Haynes the Hardest

by Alex Schwartz

As mentioned in my recently posted update on Donte Clark, talented point guards are few and far between in the class of 2012. One of the seven uncommitted, ranked lead guards in the senior class DeOndre Haynes of Calera (AL).

The 6'2 point guard is ranked #146 in the Northstar Basketball Class of 2012 Post-July Top 150, good for
25th amongst players at his position.

Northstar Basketball caught up with Haynes this evening to get an update on where things stand in the recruitment of the seventh best available point guard in the nation.

Haynes listed scholarship offers from Louisiana Tech, Tennessee Tech, Florida State, and Morehead State to go along with interest from Vanderbilt.

"i cant really say right now," Haynes said via text message of whether he has any favorites. "tennessee tech and louisiana tech show me the most interest."

Haynes has yet to visit any colleges, either officially or unofficially. However, Haynes said that he will be making his first trip this weekend, an official visit to Louisiana Tech.

Asked what he is looking for in a school, Haynes replied, "Somewhere with good coaching, my style of play and most important [is] focused on education."

As far as his timetable for a commitment goes, Haynes remarked, "Whenever i am sure thats where i need to be thats when i will commit."

The quick and athletic Yellowhammer State standout is not sure yet whether he will sign in the fall or wait until the spring signing period.
