Donte Clark Has a Favorite

by Alex Schwartz

In a class low on quality point guards, Donte Clark is an intriguing prospect. Although he is not particularly well known, the 6'4 lead guard is talented player who checks in at #122 in the Northstar Basketball Post-July 2012 Top 150.

Clark is the 21st ranked point guard on the list, but it where the Kennedy Charter (NC) standout sits amongst the uncommitted players at his position that really matters at this time. Clark is the fourth best available lead guard in the senior class, behind #69 Ray Lee, #79 Dominic Artis and #85 Nino Jackson.

This evening, Clark took the time to update Northstar Basketball on where things stand with his recruitment and mentioned which program is in the lead to land his services.

Clark said he holds offers from East Carolina, Chattanooga, Radford, UCF, Mercer, Gardner-Webb, and Jacksonville. In addition, Charlotte and Virginia Tech are actively involved in his recruitment. Clark also noted that he has gotten "some interest" from Memphis, Virginia, Auburn, Maryland, Nebraska, and South Carolina.

"Yea I really like ECU, UCF, uncc, v tech, webb, and mercer," Clark said via text message of whether he has any favorites.

Asked if anyone in particular is standing out the most, Clark replied, "Yea, I would say Ecu because they have been on me since day one."

Although he has yet to take any official visits, Clark has unofficially tripped to both East Carolina and Virginia Tech. He does not have any other visits planned at this point.

"It may be sometime in november or maybe even next year," Clark said of when he plans to make his college commitment.

Does that mean he plans to sign in the spring? "It depends on if I have the schools that I want," Clark said, "because I want to play in the acc, that's why I'm trying to wait."
