Class of 2012 Team Recruiting Rankings- September Edition

by Alex Schwartz

First off, I apologize for the lack of posts lately. I have been extremely busy and have not had as much time to work on articles. I now plan to get back in the groove of posting regularly.

At this point, 80 players in the Northstar Basketball Post-July 2012 Top 150 are off the board, while two others matriculated to college in the class of
2011 instead. With just over half of the ranked prospects off the board, now is an ideal time to release the first edition of Northstar Basketball's 2012 Team Recruiting Rankings.

The top spot at this point in time goes to Sean Miller (pictured) and the Arizona Wildcats. The Wildcats are cashing in their early chips at the casino on line a one of just four schools with commitments from three or more ranked players.  Arizona has a pledge the highest ranked committed player in the country, #7 Brandon Ashley. Miller is also the only coach who can stake claim a pair of top 30 prospects or a trio of pledges in the top 60. In fact, all three commits for the Pac-12 program come from the list's top 40.

The other two schools considered for the number one overall ranking were Providence and Indiana. Ed Cooley and the PC Friars are as hot as anyone and could try their hand and play online roulette right now they are on such a roll.  PC checks in at #2 on the list and have a pledge from the nation's third highest ranked commit, #15 Ricardo Ledo. Providence also has another top 45 player in the fold as well as a solid unranked commitment.

As for IU, Tom Crean's Hoosiers are the only team with four commits on the list. The quartet are all in the top 100 and two of them rank among the nation's top 45 players. Indiana also has a commitment from an unranked player who was considered for the top 150.

Rounding out the top five are a pair of Texas schools. Baylor has a commit from #10 Isaiah Austin, the second highest ranked player off the board in the class of 2012. Scott Drew also has another top 65 on his commitment list. At the #5 spot is Houston, easily the top ranked team outside the six BCS conferences. James Dickey should hit the blackjack sites as he landed commitments from a pair of aces ranked in the top 40, one of just three programs to do so.

The September Edition of the Class of 2012 Team Recruiting Rankings below include the nation's top 25 classes as of right now, and as we all know, recruiting can change in a hurry!
