Northstar Basketball Post-July 2012 Top 150

by Alex Schwartz

With the July Live Evaluation Period is in the books it is time to update Northstar Basketball's player rankings for each high school class.Six weeks ago the Northstar Basketball Pre-July 2012 Top 100 was led by DaJuan Coleman at #1 and this new, expanded list feature a new player atop the list.

This time around, it is 6'6 small forward Shabazz Muhammad who checks in at #1. The Bishop Gorman (NV) star
was #2 before the Live period, but now sits on the top line of the Northstar Basketball Post-July 2012 Top 150. A skilled and athletic wing with a terrific motor, Muhammad is the complete package.

Right behind Muhammad is Andre Drummond, a 6'11 power forward out of Wilbraham & Monson (MA). Physically, the Connecticut native has everything you look for in an elite young big man and he has a chance to be an absolute star. Checking in at #3 is Mitch McGary, a 6'10 power forward from Indiana who attends Brewster Academy (NH). A competitive player with a great build who plays just about as hard as any player in the nation, McGary has made incredible strides in his game over the last year.

Previously #1, 6'9 center DaJuan Coleman is now in the fourth spot in the 2012 rankings. Coleman, who attends Jamesville-DeWitt (NY), is a physical specimen who knows how to use his body to his advantage, but he was not his usual self in July. Rounding out the top five is the most unique prospect in the nation, 6'8 power forward Kyle Anderson of St. Anthony's (NJ). There might not be a player who shined more last month than Anderson, who moved up seven spots and is one of two newcomers to the top 10. The other is #9 Archie Goodwin, who rose nine spots.

Note that the players ranked one through 26 are considered the five-star prospects, with 27 through 104 are considered four-star prospects and the rest of the list are three-star prospects. There are more notes on the rankings at the bottom of the posts, including the biggest risers (Brice Johnson is first), highest newcomers (Landy Nnoko leads the list) and more.

Keep in mind that post-grads (i.e. Semaj Christon) are not eligible, but fifth year players are and that a player's determination between the two is based off what year he was entering his fourth year of high school (more detail Here). In addition, I would like to thank CBSSports.com's Jeff Borzello, my partner in D1 Hoops Report, for lending a bit of a hand in the rankings.

Now, without further ado, have a look at the Northstar Basketball Post-July 2012 Top 150.
