Nation's Elite Recruiting Bluff City Juniors Williams & King
by Alex Schwartz
Jonathan Williams III and Nick King are among the top players in America in the class of 2013 and both live in the same city. Ranked #9 and #32 respectively in the Northstar Basketball Pre-July 2013 Top 50, Williams and King are two of the many elite players in the city of Memphis.
Teammates on the Memphis YOMCA U16 squad, Williams and King represented the Bluff City quite well at the Nike Peach, leading the team to the championship. In fact, it was a
bucket from King of a lob from a baseline inbound with 0.6 seconds left in overtime that gave YOMCA a one-point win over the CP3 All-Stars.
Northstar Basketball caught up with both of the rising juniors while in North Augusta, S.C. to discuss the status of their recruitment.
Jonathan Williams III, a 6'8 power forward out of Southwind (TN), said he holds offers from Florida, Kentucky, Memphis, Tennessee, Missouri, Texas, and Georgetown. The other school involved in his recruitment is UConn.
"I like all of them," Williams said of whether he has any favorites. "All of them are pretty good."
When asked who is recruiting him the hardest, Williams (pictured on left) mentioned Kentucky, Memphis and Florida before saying, "Basically all of them."
Williams, who is known as "J3," said he has yet to take an unofficial visit to any of the schools recruiting him.
"We go down to Florida [soon]. . . so I may take
a visit [to] Florida [and] I live in Memphis," said Williams, who also mentioned possible trips to Kentucky and Tennessee.
Nick King, a 6'7 small forward out of Memphis East (TN), has some of the same schools on him as J3 does.
King listed offers from Memphis, Georgetown, Auburn, Arkansas, Virginia Tech, Tennessee, and Oklahoma State. He said Miami, North Carolina and Marquette are also involved in his recruitment.
Although King (pictured on right) does not claim any favorites at this point, he did say that Memphis, Auburn and Arkansas are the schools coming at him the hardest.
The Tigers are the only program to host King on campus, but not the ones from Memphis. Rather, it is Auburn that King said is the lone school he has visited.
