Glass, Hammonds & Bolden Talk Recruiting

by Alex Schwartz

Three of the more well-known players at the Reebok Breakout Challenge were Tevin Glass, Travis Hammonds and Treshawn Bolden. Northstar Basketball had the opportunity to speak with each of them about the status of their recruitment.

Tevin Glass, a 6'8 class of 2012 combo forward, is transferring from Meadowcreek (GA) to Milton (GA) for his senior year of high school. He said he holds offers from Auburn, Mississippi State, Nevada, Georgia State, Georgia Southern, Murray State, and Tennessee State, but is "not really" considering the five schools outside the BCS conferences.

In addition to his offers, Glass is hearing from a host of other programs. He mentioned Florida State, Texas, Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, South Carolina, Arkansas, Georgia Tech, Clemson, Virginia Tech, Ole Miss, and "a couple other schools."

Glass said that South Carolina, Auburn, Tennessee, and Georgia are the schools coming fter him the hardest. Although he does not have a top one or two, Glass does have a few schools standing out.

He listed Florida, Florida State, Texas, Arkansas, Georgia, Tennessee, and "a couple more" as his favorites at this point. As for when he plans to commit, he remarked, "I'm thinking about the end of the summer."

Travis Hammonds, a 6'5 shooting guard, has a fairly wide range of schools on his list. The class of 2012 sharpshooter out of Richland Northeast (SC) listed offers from Boston College, VCU, Towson, The Citadel, Oklahoma State, Virginia Tech, South Carolina, Clemson, and College of Charleston.

Hammonds, who claims offers from all those schools, said that there are other programs involved as well. He noted that Clemson, The Citadel and College of Charleston, all in-state programs, are the three schools coming after him the hardest.

Asked if he has any favorites, Hammonds (pictured on left) replied, "Yeah, Virginia Tech and Oklahoma State and Boston [College] and VCU. That's about it."

Unlike Glass and Hammonds, 6'9 power forward Treshawn Bolden still has two years of high school left, as he is in the class of 2013. The Callaway (MS) standout said that he holds offers from Marquette, Mississippi State and DePaul.

In addition to the trio of offers, Bolden is garnering interest from Southern Miss and Ole Miss. He said that Mississippi State is the school coming at him the hardest, but noted that he has no favorites.

Bolden has not visited any schools yet and does not have any trips planned. In addition, he does not have a timetable for a commitment and said that location will not be a factor in his decision.

Although Bolden will be playing football at Callaway next year, he said that he is set on playing basketball at the collegiate level.
