Pierre Makes Name for Himself at U19 World Championship

Although an 11th place finish at the FIBA U19 World Championship might not have been what Dyshawn Pierre was hoping for, there is no question he was one of the event’s top performers.
The 6-foot-6, 195-pound forward led Canada in scoring, rebounding and field goal percentage out in Latvia. His 16.9 points per game was good for seventh in the whole tournament. While his 8.2 rebounds an outing placed him third. Pierre’s field goal percentage of 60.2% was the best of any player from the 16 teams.
Pierre recorded four double-doubles, which also led Canada and was fourth overall. In addition, he was second on the team in free throw percentage at 61.7% and minutes per game at 27.8 per game, numbers that had him in the top 35 overall.
