Final Conference Recruiting Breakdown: Non-BCS
by Alex Schwartz
Over 11% of the
players in the D1 Hoops Report Class of 2011 Top 150 will be suiting up this fall for NCAA programs outside the six BCS conferences. In addition, of the 34 committed players in the D1 Hoops Report 2011 Post-Grad Top 40, upwards of 61% of them are bound for non-BCS schools.
Having said all that, it is clear that programs outside the "big six" conferences are bringing some major talent from the class of 2011. In fact, including honorable mentions, 10% of the schools from the Final Team Recruiting Rankings are from non-BCS conferences.
Of the 50 players ranked between 101 and 150 in the D1HR 2011 Top 150, more of them are committed to non-BCS programs than schools from any particular "big six" conference. As you can see below, though, none of the non-BCS conferences passed the "big six" in the conference recruiting rankings for the class of 2011.
