Carter & Reinhardt Reeling in Offers

by Alex Schwartz

Two of the more impressive players at the 2011 NBPA Top 100 Camp were Robert Carter of Thomasville (GA) and Katin Reinhardt of Mater Dei (CA). Carter showed that he is comfortable around the basket and deserves to be considered amongst the best big men in the class of 2012. Reinhardt finished top 25 scoring while also displaying a superb handle and playmaking ability.

Robert Carter (pictured on left), a 6'8 power forward, said that he is being recruited by 11 of the 12 schools both the ACC and SEC, with Miami and Mississippi State as the only ones not involved.

Of the 22 from the ACC and SEC that are involved, Carter said all but Duke, North Carolina, Kentucky, and Vanderbilt have offered. In addition, the Peach State big man said he holds offers from Texas, Ohio State and "a few more."

The rising senior did not mention any favorites and also noted that there are not any schools in particular coming after him the hardest.

"Everybody [is coming at me] the same way because I haven't made a decision yet and you get that one call a month," Carter explained. "So, everybody is calling me and telling me how much they want me."

Carter said the only schools he has visited are Georgia, Georgia Tech, Florida, and Florida State "because they are close" to him.

"I wanna go to more, but none are close to me and I don't know when I'm gonna get [to take more] unofficial visits," Carter said of whether he has any trips planned.

Carter said that he plans to trim his school list down after July and that it will likely be cut to five to seven programs.

As for Katin Reinhardt (pictured on right), the 6'4 shooting guard was committed to USC for a few months before reopening his recruitment.  He said he now holds scholarship offers from Arizona, Baylor, North Carolina State, Gonzaga, and Arizona State.

In addition to those offers, the central New Jersey native is hearing from Syracuse, Florida, Georgia Tech, Virginia Tech, Cal, Washington State, and Colorado. He said no schools are standing out to him at this point.

"I don't have any favorites right now, it's all wide open," Reinhardt said. "What I do know is I'm gonna take my schools and put them [down] to a list of five and take official visits to three schools of my choice."

As far as visits go, only a couple of Pac-12 programs have had the opportunity to host the sharpshooting guard.

"I haven't visited any [since decommitting]," Reinhardt said. "I went to UCLA before I was committed to USC and [they were] . . . the only two schools I looked at."

Reinhardt, who averaged 9.3 points per game at NBPA Camp, discussed a few of the things that he is looking for in a college.

"Whatever style of offense I could fit into," Reinhardt said. "Getting a lot of playing time my freshman year is a big thing."

Having already decommitted once, Reinhardt said he will be approaching his recruitment a bit differently this time around.

"Yeah, I'm definitely gonna make sure [I know] what coaches wanna use me for, what position they wanna use me at," Reinhardt said.
