Team Takeover 16s Trio Talk Recruiting

by Alex Schwartz

Featuring numerous future Division I players, Caron Butler Team Takeover was one of the better U16 teams in the field for the 2011 Bob Gibbons Tournament of Champions. The boys from the DMV made the championship of the U16 Select bracket, falling to Team United in the final.

Jairus Lyles, a 6-foot, 165-pound point guard from DeMatha (MD), was vital in running the show for Team Takeover. Stanford Robinson, a 6-foot-4, 180-pound shooting guard out of Paul VI (VA), was one of the team's top scorers. As for Tim Higgins, a 6-foot-9, 200-pound center from Paul VI (VA), was a key player down low.

VUSports.com had the opportunity to catch up with each of those three players over the weekend to discuss their recruitment.

Jairus Lyles, the most highly touted of the bunch, has a host of high-major programs coming after him. Although he listed no offers, Lyles mentioned Virginia, Georgetown, Maryland, VCU, South Florida, Wisconsin, and Villanova amongst the schools pursuing him.

Lyles has yet to take any visits and does not have any trips planned. He does, however, have a school he hopes to land at.

"I wanna go to Wake Forest," Lyles said, adding of the ACC program, "That's my dream school."
