National High School Top 25- 1/27/11
by Alex Schwartz
According to MapQuest, St. Anthony's (NJ) and St. Patrick's (NJ) are about 14 miles and 25 minutes apart. With a recent loss by Miller Grove (GA), the two North Jersey powers now occupy the top two spots in the national rankings.
The fierce rivals, who have not played since 2008, are on a collision course for a de facto national championship game when the likely meet in the NJSIAA Non-Public B, North Jersey sectional title game. Granted, both will have to get through their opponents from now through then and also win the games after that, but it will be tough for anyone left on their schedules to defeat them. Besides each other, that is.
The teams ranked three through six in the national top 25 are also undefeated and are looking to possibly sneak into the top spot for that mythical national title should St. Anthony's or St. Patrick's slip up.
