Indiana Adds a Pair in 2013; Ferrell to Announce

The Indiana Hoosiers had a great day on Sunday. Tom Crean and Co. knocked off Evansville to move to 4-0 on the season and picked up two key pieces for the future. A pair of in-state sophomores committed to the Big Ten program, and a Hoosier State junior set his announcement date.
In news I first saw from Scout, both Devin Davis of Warren Central (IN) and Collin Hartman of Cathedral (IN) verbally committed to Indiana. Davis and Hartman, both 6'6 small forwards, are amongst the top 2013 players in the state of Indiana.
The additions of Davis and Hartman come only about a week and a half after 6'10 power forward Cody Zeller of Washington (IN) committed to and signed with Indiana. Zeller is the #25
ranked player in the NBE Post-Summer Class of 2011 Top 150 and it was expected that his pledge would lead to a plethora of in-state players staying home and playing for IU.
Indiana now has commitments from at least two players in every high school class, and all but one of them are from prospects within the state of Indiana. In 2011, Indiana has locked up Zeller and Austin Etherington of Hamilton Heights (IN). In 2012, the Hoosiers have pledges from Hanner Perea of La Lumiere (IN), Peter Jurkin of United Faith Christian Academy (NC), and Ron Patterson of Broad Ripple (IN). Perea is ranked #15 in the NBE Post-Summer Class of 2012 Top 150 and Jurkin comes in at #49. In the class of 2014, both Trey Lyles of Arsenal Tech (IN) and James Blackmon
of Bishop Luers (IN) are headed to Bloomington.
While Davis and Hartman were the first two players to follow in Zeller's footsteps and stay local and play for the Hoosiers, it does not appear that they will be the only ones. Kevin "Yogi" Ferrell, a 5'10 point guard from Park Tudor School (IN), will announce his college decision on Wednesday. Ferrell, the #36 ranked player in the NBE Post-Summer Class of 2011 Top 150, is close friends with Zeller, his AAU teammate. While IU is one of five schools still in contention, it seems that Tom Crean will land a commitment from the talented floor general.
