Signing Day Rundown, Part Two
by Alex Schwartz
Wednesday, November 10 was a huge day in the high school and college basketball world. It was the
first day that basketball players in the class of 2011 could sign a National Letter of Intent to their future college.
Throughout the course of the day I tweeted hundreds of updates players making their college choices official. Some of them were retweets, but many of them—especially later in the day—included information that I collected from a variety of sources.
I posted a large recap of those tweets, but then on Thursday, more updates came in and I continued to tweet information. In this post I will recap the tweets that I sent out on Thursday so that all of the signing day news can be found on the site as well as on Twitter.
Here is the second part of my 2011 signing day rundown:
- This afternoon at a press conference, Cody Zeller of Washington (IN) committed to Indiana over Butler and North Carolina. Zeller is the #25 ranked player in the NBE Post-Summer Class of 2011 Top 150. His decision was first reported by Peegs.com.
- According to multiple reports, Norvel Pelle of Price (CA) announced his intentions to attend St. John's on ESPNU this evening. Pelle is the #47 ranked player in the NBE Post-Summer Class of 2011 Top 150.
- Another player who opted to make his verbal commitment on Thursday was Will Davis of New Hampton Prep (NH), as the California native decided on Penn, according to a source close to the situation. Davis also had offers from Delaware and Drexel as well as interest from Colorado and Rice. Ivy League schools do not use Letters of Intent, so Davis will not be signing early.
- The #50 ranked player in the NBE Post-Summer Class of 2011 Top 150, Dai-Jon Park of Milton (GA), officially signed with the Vanderbilt Commodores.
- In addition to the reviously reported signings of Jabarie Hinds of Mount Vernon (NY) and Aaron Brown of Penn Wood (PA), West Virginia also sealed the deal with Tommie McCune of Saginaw (MI), Keaton Miles of Lincoln (TX), and Pat Forsythe of Brunswick (OH).
- Kadeem Jack of South Kent (CT), the #81 ranked player in the NBE Post-Summer Class of 2011 Top 150, inked with Rutgers.
- The Villanova Wildcats got signatures from all four of their committed players, as Tyrone Johnson of Montrose Christian (MD), Achraf Yacoubou of Long Island Lutheran (NY), Markus Kennedy of Brewster Academy (NH), and Darrun Hilliard of Liberty (PA) all made it official. Johnson is ranked #49 in the NBE Post-Summer Class of 2011 Top150, while Yacoubou was #123.
- Temple added one player to its future roster when Will Cummings of Providence School (FL) inked with the Owls.
- Adrian Diaz of Miami-Hialeah Lakes (FL), the #127 ranked player in the NBE Post-Summer Class of 2011 Top 150, signed his Letter of Intent to Kansas State on Thursday night.
- Lafayette added four players during the early signing period, including one from overseas. Colorado native Joey Ptasinski of New Hampton Prep (NH), Seth Hinrichs of Maccray (MN), Alan Flannigan of Dexter (MO), and Daiel Trist from Australia all officially became Lafayette Leopards.
- Keith Belfield of Davidson Day (NC) made it official that he will attend Furman.
- UMass added one player in the early signing period, as Jordan Laguerre of New Hampton Prep (NH) inked with the Minutemen.
