National Preseason High School Top 100- Part Two: 51-75

by Alex Schwartz

The 2010-11 high school basketball season is right around the corner! So, what does that mean? Well, for one it means that it is time for Northstar Basketball release its National Preseason High School Top 100.

The top 100 list will be released in five segments, plus a comprehensive list at the end with some notes on the rankings. For each team, I will provide an overview of the squad. With each segment, the size of the overview will increase and be filled with more information.

The rankings include both public and private schools, but not prep schools. For these purposes, prep schools are defined as schools that have fifth-year players and/or post-grads, as well as all schools that play in the NEPSAC. That means that teams such as Hotchkiss School (CT), Notre Dame Prep (MA), South Kent (CT), and St. Thomas More (CT) are ineligible.

Without further ado, here is the second segment of Northstar Basketball's National Preseason High School Top 100. This segment will include the teams ranked 51 through 76. Segment one (teams 76-100) can be seen by clicking Here.

51. McCluer North (MO): This team checks in at number one in the state of Missouri, but that is assuming that Arkansas-commit BJ Young, the #13 ranked player in the NBE Post-Summer Class of 2011 Top 150, has his academics in order and plays the full season. If he does, McCluer North will have a big-time tandem of Young and 2012 wing Jordon Granger.

52. South Atlanta (GA): The alma mater of Derrick Favors is one of 14 schools with multiple players ranked in the NBE Post-Summer Class of 2011 Top 150 in Alabama-bound Nick Jacobs and Dominique McKoy. The other vital players for the Peach State squad are Rashaud Bell '11, Cliff Kelly '13, and Naquavious King '13.

53. Greater Atlanta Christian Academy (GA): Virginia-commit Malcolm Brogdon '11 leads a team that is coming off of a fantastic 09-10 season. AJ Davis, the son of ex-NBA player Antonio Davis, is a talented player in the class of 2013 and Paul Dawson is a senior with experience.

54. Bellaire (TX): Texas-commit Sheldon McClellan will shoulder much of the burden for a team that lost a lot of talent from last year and also dealt with the tragic passing of Tobi Oyedeji. McClellan's supporting cast will include Christian Sanders '12, Dylan Jones '13, and Darin Minniefield '13.

55. Central Park Christian (AL): The top team in the state of Alabama, Central Park Christian is led by a quarter of seniors, two of whom are committed to the same SEC school. Auburn-pledge Willy Kouassi is the best of the bunch, but fellow Auburn-commit Bernard Morena is not far behind, while KJ McDaniels and Devin McNeil are talented also.

56. Providence School (FL): One of the best teams in the nation last year, Providence School lost two top 30 players in the class of 2010, but still has a three talented players leading the way this time around. Central Florida-bound forward Wayne Martin '11 is the top player, but the backcourt duo of Solomon Poole '13 and Temple-commit Will Cummings '11 is tremendous.

57. Memphis Central (TN): Intimidating low post presence Jarnell Stokes, the #8 ranked player in the NBE Post-Summer Class of 2012 Top 50, is by far the best player for this squad. Stokes, though, has some talented players around him in football star Cameron Clear '11, D'Airrius Sorrell '12, and Andre Applewhite '12.

58. Christ the King (NY): Despite losing a number of talented seniors, CTK returns its top two players in Omar Calhoun '12 and George Mason-commit Corey Edwards '11 and is the best team in the state of New York. Other key players for the team will be Isaiah Lewis '13, TJ Curry '11, Jordan Fuchs '13, and Jonathan Severe '13.

59. Baltimore City College HS (MD): Led by Maryland-bound senior shooting guard Nick Faust, City College will likely take over as the best team in the city of Baltimore. Teaming with Faust are two other class of 2011 prospects, Mike Cheatham and Rashaun Rasheed.

60. Arlington Country Day (FL): The tradition-rich Sunshine State program does not have any big names on the roster, but has a number of solid players and should be a quality team. Can Korkmaz  is the senior leader while juniors Ian Baker, Shawn Smith, Carlos Morris, and Kampertino Rolle round out the group of key players.

61. Kimball (TX): A trio of seniors, North Texas-pledge Jordan Williams, Jarion Henry, and SMU-commit Jalen Jones, are the main men for Kimball. Their 2011 classmates in Eugene Martin and Austin Franklin as well as junior Shannon Lilly are talented in their own right as well.

62. Duncanville (TX): Although the top two players from last year's team are gone, Duncanville still has a deep roster that is stacked with talent including Luke Mergerson '11, Jamar Goodson '11, and Chris Washburn '12. Other players not to be overlooked include Terrence Crawford '12, Cameron Lenzy  '11, and James Moody '11, amongst others.

63. Sacramento (CA): Arizona-commit Josiah Turner is one of the top guards in the class of 2011 and he is easily the most important player for this NorCal squad. Turner forms a superb inside-outside duo with Santa Clara-bound big man Robert Garrett '11, while Darius Graham '12 and Eric Kinney '12 provide help in the backcourt.

64. Morgan Park (IL): Featuring Louisville-bound Wayne Blackshear, the #12 ranked player in the NBE Post-Summer Class of 2011 Top 150, this will be one of the best teams in the Praire State. Illinois-Chicago-bound senior Jerome Brown, sophomores Markee Williams and Billy Garrett, Jr. are talented guards, while 2013 big man Xavier Taylor is a load down low.

65. Monsignor Pace (FL): Although flying under-the-radar, Pace will be one of the better teams in Florida this year behind sophomore star Malik Price-Martin and junior big man Kristan Rolle. They are not Pace's only talents though, as Cody Mann '12, David Beneby '11, Kai Deans '11, Maquedious Bain '13, and Samad Hines '12 are quality players too.

66. Bob Jones (AL): Led by Alabama-bound senior shooting guard Levi Randolph, Bob Jones will contend for the top spot in the state of Alabama this season. Jeffery Moss '12, football standout Reggie Ragland '11, and Terry Randle '11 are the other vital players.

67. Penn Wood (PA): After making the PIAA Class AAAA state championship the past two years and winning the title in 08-09, Penn Wood, led by West Virginia-commit Aaron Brown, enters this season as the top team in the Keystone State. Brown is one of three talented seniors along with athletic forward Darian Barnes and dual-sport star Shawn Oakman, who will play football for Penn State.

68. Lawrence North (IN): A program that has had a great deal of talent over the past several years, Lawrence North features a big-time post player in Xavier-bound senior Michael Chandler '11. Other standouts are sophomore Hulian Terrell, senior Tyler Bibbs, and freshman Terrell Davis.

69. Irving (TX): A talented two-headed monster in the backcourt makes Irving one of the top teams in the loaded state of Texas. Jevante Thompson is a senior who has committed to in-state Houston and Keith Frazier is one of the very best sophomores in the nation.

70. Wheeler (GA): A great deal of talent is lost from last year's team, but Wheeler will still make some noise in the Peach State this year. Western Kentucky-commit Nigel Snipes '11, Charles Mitchell '12, UNC-Wilimington-commit KK Simmons '11, and Karl Cochran '11 are the main men for the team, but Charles Dubose '12 and Derrick Frye' 12 are amongst the other talents.

71. Garfield (WA): Washington-bound guard Tony Wroten, Jr. is the #16 ranked player in the NBE Post-Summer Class of 2011 Top 150 and will be counted on to carry Garfield this season. He will receive support from senior guard Devon Bookert and junior guard Pierre Wright.

72. Detroit Country Day School (MI): Amir Williams is one of the top centers in America and he will be the go-to guy for this traditional powerhouse. Williams has a quartet of fellow seniors who will help him lead the team in Chris Fowler, Mahesh Umansakar, football standout Kenny Knight, and Lee Bailey.

73. Raytown South (MO): This is a team that will contend for bragging rights as the best team in the Show Me State behind the play of a pair of future high-major Division I players. Ishmael Wainwright is one of the top sophomores in the country and senior Corey Hilliard is committed to Nebraska.

74. Chaminade (MO): Antother squad from Missouri that will be in the running for the best team in the state, Chaminade is led by Florida-bound Brad Beal, the #5 ranked player in the NBE Post-Summer Class of 2011 Top 150. Beal is an elite player who will determine just how good this team is, but fellow seniors Brendan Kelly will provide some support.

75. Kestrel Heights (NC): Big man Travion Leonard '11 highlights a deep and talented roster for one of the top teams in the state of North Carolina. The squad also includes Bucknell-commit Joshea Singleton '11, Eric Johnson '14, Khalil Alford '11, and Montay Brandon '12, amongst others.
