Anrio Adams & Landen Lucas On Recruitment Status

by Alex Schwartz

Two of the best players from the Pacific Northwest in the class of 2012 are Anrio Adams and Landen Lucas. Both are ranked in the top 40 of the NBE Post-Summer Class of 2012, with Adams of Franklin (WA) checking in at #27 and Oregon native Lucas of Findlay Prep (NV) at #38. I recently caught up with both of them to discuss where things stand with their recruitment.

Anrio Adams is a 6'3 point guard who has garnered offers from schools all over the United States. He lists Louisville, Arizona, Texas, Baylor, UCLA, Washington State, Washington, New Mexico, Marquette, Villanova, Georgetown, Oregon, and Oregon State as the programs involved in his recruitment.

Adams claims scholarship offers from each and every one of those schools, saying, "Yes. I wouldn't just list something of no interest."

Asked if he has any favorites, Adams replied, "Nope not so far. [I am] keeping everything open  on my recruitment [and I am] just focusing on high school for now."

On whether he has visited any schools yet, Adams remarked, "No don't want to really. [Not] until it's time to commit." What is his reasoning for that? "When it comes to recruitment, what you do for one school you [have] to do for all [of them]," Adams said.

"At the very end of my senior year so I can get interviewed," Adams said of when he plans to commit. He went on to talk about what he is looking for in a school and whether location will be a factor.

"You know, [as] far as location, weather will play a big part and I'm looking for a very deep and loving and energetic fanbase!!!" Adams said via text message.

Adams had something to add before finishing up the interview. "Yeah I sure do [have something else to say]," Adams said. "Tell Seattle they should have never underestimated me and my family, the Franklin Quakers. I'm showing out and I won't be stopped. I quote, I won't and we will not be stopped!!"

Landen Lucas is in his first year at national powerhouse Findlay Prep after previously being at Sunset (OR). Like Adams, the 6'8 power forward has a school list that goes from coast to coast.

Lucas said he has offers from Oregon, Oregon State, Washington State, Washington, USC, Stanford, Harvard, Vanderbilt, Arizona, Arizona State, Cal, Colorado, New Mexico, and Utah State. In addition, Lucas is hearing from Gonzaga, Texas, UCLA, Georgetown, Florida, and Kansas.

"Not at the moment," said Lucas of whether he has any favorites. He has already been on visits to Washington, Oregon, Oregon State, Georgetown, and UCLA.

On his timetable for a commitment, Lucas remarked via text message, "First signing date for my class." That would be Wednesday, November, 2011.

He added on what he is looking for in a school, "Good relationship with the coach and fan support. And style of play." As for whether location will matter, Lucas said, "No it's a [non] factor."

Lucas is enjoying his time at Findlay Prep so far and sees it paying off. "It's been great," Lucas said of being at the Silver State school. "Makin me better."
