Soldiers Falter on Day Three

As great as the Drew Gooden Soldiers were on the first two days of the Nike Peach Jam/EYBL Finals was as much as they struggled on day three. Allowing 82 points in both games, the Soldiers were crushed by Team Takeover DC in pool play and then lost to the St. Louis Eagles in the quarterfinals. The team finished the Peach Jam with a 4-2 record to go 15-5 overall in the EYBL.

The morning game between the Soldiers and Team Takeover was a matchup between the only teams to go 4-0 through the first two days and was for first place in Pool A. Expected to be a great game, the Soldiers were dominated by the eventual EYBL Finals champion, losing 82-57. The usually potent Soldiers offense faltered as only two players scored in double-figures.
