King City Classic: NYer Evaluations

by Alex Schwartz

The prestigious LeBron James Skills Academy and King City Classic featured about 75 of the best players in the nation, regardless of class. Five players from New York made their way out to Ohio for those events that kicked off the July Live Evaluation Period.

Jabarie Hinds '11 of Mount Vernon (NY), Villanova-commit Achraf Yacoubou '11 of Long Island Lutheran (NY), and Arizona-bound Sidiki Johnson '11 of Oak Hill Academy (VA) were all on Team West Virginia at the King City Classic. Tyler Harris '11 of Half Hollow Hills West (NY) and DaJuan Coleman '12 of Jamesville-DeWitt (NY) were teammates on Team UConn.

The main thing that Jabarie Hinds showed this week was an aggressive style of play. The 6'0, 165-pound point guard got to the cup off the bounce a number of times, and although he did struggle to finish, he was constantly around the rim. In addition, Hinds is a quality passer who gets his teammates involved. He does need to improve his jumper.
