NY Metro Area Group Playing Well at NBPA Camp
by Alex Schwartz
One of the top events of the summer each and every year, the NBPA Top 100 Camp draws players from all over the country, and the world for that matter. There are seven players from the New York Metro Area for the camp at the University of Virginia this year.
Those seven players, all in the class of 2011, at the big-time event are as follows: Arizona-commit Sidiki Johnson of Oak Hill Academy (VA), Villanova-commit Achraf Yacoubou of Oak Hill Academy (VA), Desmond Hubert of of New Egypt (NJ), Tyrone Johnson of Plainfield (NJ), Myles Mack of St. Anthony's (NJ), Derrick Randall of South Kent (CT), and Shaq Thomas of NIA Prep (NJ).
Based off pure physique, there are not many more impressive players in camp than Sidiki Johnson. Appearing to be all of his listed 6'9, 220-pounds, Johnson is in great shape. The former St. Raymond's (NY) star is averaging 8.0 points per game through the four "regular season" games and is a part of the only undefeated team left. Johnson, who has a single game high of 16 points, has demonstrated that he is comfortable banging down low, but as always, he can also put the ball on the deck and step outside.
