News & Notes

- Arizona State hit the double jackpot over the weekend, picking up two late commitments in the class of 2010, according to multiple media outlets. First came the news that New Hampton Prep (NH) post grad 6'7 forward Kyle Cain had picked the Sun Devils. Cain had signed with Rhode Island, but was let out of his National Letter of Intent. JuCo redshirt freshman 6'6 wing Carrick Felix of College of Southern Idaho (ID) also committed to Herb Sendek's squad. Felix, who will have three years of eligibility left, had signed with Duke, but he too was relased from his NLI. ASU's class is now seven deep, led by 6'5 shooting guard Keala King of Mater Dei (CA), the #39 ranked player in Northstar Basketball's Class of 2010 Terrific 125.

- Darien Hutton '10 of Ocean Academy (NJ) is still looking for a school to go to next year. The 6'4, 175-pound shooting guard graduated from Ewing (NJ) in the class of 2009 and attended Ocean Academy for a post-graduate year. Despite being a PG, Hutton does not turn 19 years old until next month. During his prep year, he has garnered attention from a couple of Division II schools. During his senior year of high school (08-09) at Ewing, Hutton did receive some DI interest too, though he is certainly willing to go the DII route.

- A top 10 prospect in the class of 2011, North Carolina-commit James McAdoo of Norfolk Christian (VA) is reportedly considering enrolling at the ACC school a year earlier than expected. A 6'8 power forward, McAdoo is arguably the best big man in the class of 2011, and UNC is looking for bigs for next year since twin brothers David and Travis Wear opted to transfer to UCLA after one year in Chapel Hill. According to an article by Jeff Borzello on NBE Basketball Report, McAdoo has withdrawn from Norfok Christian and thus it appears that he may well end up at UNC a year earlier than expected.

- Entering school a year early is something that two players originally in the class of 2011 have already decided to do. Not that long after he decommitted from Indiana, Matt Carlino of Bloomington South (IN), soon made the decision to attend UCLA as a part of the class of 2010. Carlino, originally from Arizona, had committed to the Hoosiers as a freshman while still in the 2011 class and even moved to Bloomington. Now, he is headed to UCLA in the 2010 class. Scottie Wilbekin of The Rock School (FL) is not switching towns for school next year, but he will be changing his school. Wilbekin is heading to Florida in the class of 2010 after originally being a 2011 prospect. Both UCLA and Florida were looking for impact guards to come in and the players made the choice to expedite their high school years.

- On Sunday, Myles Mack '11 announced via Twitter that he will be attending St. Anthony's (NJ) next year. The 5'9 point guard is one of many players—and students, for that matter—who were forced to find a new school for next year when it was announced that Paterson Catholic (NJ) would be closing down after this school year. Mack, who has developed into a high-major caliber player, is the second PC player to pick St. Anthony's, joining Kyle Anderson '12.
