Jefferson Likes Nova, Sledge Remains Open

by Alex Schwartz

Villanova has had its eyes on Amile Jefferson '12 of Friends Central (PA) for quite some time and has also shown interest in Tavon Sledge '11 of Half Hollow Hills West (NY). While Jefferson is high on the Wildcats, Sledge has not been hearing from Jay Wright and Co. recently. Both of them updated their recruitment while at the Bob Gibbons Tournament of Champions in North Carolina.

Considered one of the elite players in the nation in the class of 2012, 6'7 forward Amile Jefferson has a host of high-major programs on his trail. Jefferson claims offers from Virginia Tech, Penn State, Wake Forest, West Virginia, Temple, and St. Joseph's. He also listed Villanova, Georgetown, Syracuse, and Duke as schools involved in his recruitment.

"That's a short list for right now," Jefferson said. He maintains that he has no favorites at this point in time.

Asked if location will play a factor, Jefferson mentioned even a couple more schools. "I'm wide open," he said. "[Those around me have been] getting calls from coaches from Texas to Stanford and I tell them if a school I wanna go to is close or far, if it's the best fit for me, [I will go there]."
