Arcidiacono and Okoro Hearing from Villanova

by Alex Schwartz

At the 2010 Bob Gibbons Tournament of Champions in North Carolina, there were numerous elite high-major prospects on hand, including some that are being recruited by Villanova. Two players on display in the class of 2012 that are hearing from the Wildcats were Ryan Arcidiacono of Neshaminy (PA) and Nkereuwem Okoro of St. Raymond's (NY).

While many players helped their reputations at the Bob Gibbons TOC, there was likely not anyone who boosted his more than Arcidianco. A 6'4 guard, Arcidiacono plays in the same high school league, Suburban One, that produced West Virginia's Dalton Pepper in 2009. On the AAU circuit, Arcidiacono runs with the U16 Pennsylvania Playaz, which has many other players from that league as well.

The PA Playaz made it to the Select Playoffs (second place pool finishers) semifinals, before running into the high-powered Indiana Elite/Team Indiana. The main reason for the team's success was Arcidiacono. A big-time scorer who is adept at knocking down the long range jumper, Arcidiacono can also take the ball to the hoop and finish. He is a solid passer, but does not show that quite enough.

Arcidiacono, who has no timetable for a commitment, is hearing from St. Joseph's (offer), Rutgers (offer), Rice (offer), Notre Dame, Wake Forest, Syracuse, Temple, Penn State, and Villanova. The Keystone State sophomore attended elite camps at West Virginia and Syracuse last year and has also visited Penn State, a school he has some major family ties to. One of Arcidiacono's sisters played basketball at PSU and the other one also went there, his brother is there, and his cousin is on the football team.
