- After graduating from Elizabeth (NJ) in 2009, James Frazier went to NIA Prep (NJ) for a post grad year. That decision has paid off, as the the talented guard has landed a Division I scholarship. "James Frazier, formerly of NIA Prep and now with The Robinson School, has verbally committed to Norfolk State University," stated Vincent Robinson via text message on Tuesday. Robinson is the former coach at NIA Prep and is now the athletic director and head coach at first year prep school The Robinson School . Frazier is the second player from Elizabeth's class of 2009 to commit in the past two weeks, joining Latif Rivers '10 of Avon Old Farms (CT), who selected Wagner after a PG year.
- According to multiple reports, 6'8 power forward Luke Cothron of Flora MacDonald Academy (NC) has committed to Auburn. Originally an NC State commit, Cothron did not sign in the early period and then reopened his recruitment. He is now headed to Auburn, which is in his home state of Alabama. Cothron, currently ranked #62 in Northstar Basketball's Class of 2010 Terrific 125, is part of a big-time class for first year Auburn Head Coach Tony Barbee. He is the second quality prospect to pick the Tigers since Barbee took over, joining fellow Yellowhammer State native Josh Langford of Lee (AL), an ex-Louisville commit. There are also four holdovers from Jeff Lebo's tenure, in talented post grad Shawn Kemp, Jr., Allen Payne, Heath Houston, and JuCo baller Adrian Forbes.
- With Cothron off the board, and Terrence Jones of Jefferson (OR) committing to Washington—he has not signed and still may pick Kentucky, but is committed nonetheless—there are now only two uncommitted players in the current Terrific 125. Dwayne Polee, a 6'7 small forward from Westchester (CA) is ranked #95 and is a former USC-commit. At #116 on the list is 6'8 power forward Jonathan Graham of Calvert Hall College HS (MD).
- Speaking of the Terrence Jones situation, here is the rundown for those who do not already know. Last Friday, there was a press conference at Jefferson High School where Jones was set to announce his college choice. Other members of the Demos' back-to-back state championship team went before him, including Stephen Madison '10, who is headed to Idaho. Terrence Ross '10 also went before Jones and made it official for Washington, as previously reported by numerous media outlets. Jones then came to the table and said that he was making his choice right there, just before putting on a Washington hat. It has been reported that he and he family did not sign the NLI and that he then spoke with Kentucky Head Coach John Calipari and now may go to Lexington. Jones is technically verbally committed to UW, but that means very little at this point, considering that he still may sign with the Wildcats. Kansas, Oklahoma, Oregon, and UCLA were the other finalists for the McDonald's All-American, but those schools are apparently no longer in play.
- Although 6'8 power forward Markus Kennedy '10 of Winchendon School (MA) has signed with Villanova, he will not be at the Big East school next year. Currently ranked #61 in the Terrific 125, Kennedy will be doing a post-grad year at Winchendon before enrolling at Villanova.
