Big East, ACC Schools Battling for Tyrone Johnson
Currently ranked as the number 46 player in the class of 2011 by Rivals, Tyrone Johnson of Plainfield (NJ) is a top-notch prospect. The 6'3 point guard is being pursued by numerous high-major programs, but he remains open in his recruitment.
"Big East, ACC, it's pretty much that, pretty much everyone in the Big East ACC, besides Duke and UNC," said Johnson of the schools recruiting him. As far as offers go, Johnson remarked, "Georgetown, Villanova, Rutgers, Seton Hall, St. John's, Virginia Tech, Virginia, UNLV, and West Virginia [have offered]. Those are all the ones I know of right now."
Does Johnson have any favorites? "No, not really yet, I'm still looking to look at some schools. So I don't know yet, I'm just excited about those schools that have offered."
Thus far Johnson has only visited Georgetown, Villanova, Rutgers, and St. John's. When asked if there are any other schools he would like to visit, Johnson mentioned Georgia Tech and Miami, even though neither has offered him yet. "They haven't offered yet, but I'm pretty sure they will offer once I go visit."
Johnson has also been a star on the football field, but he has decided to focus solely on hoops. The Garden State star will no longer even be playing football and will definitely be playing basketball in college.
