Pendarvis Williams to Norfolk State; Jerrell Wright to La Salle

by Alex Schwartz

There were a pair of commitments from players out of the Philadelphia area today, both of which were broken by Northstar Basketball via Twitter. According to sources close to each situation, Pendarvis Williams '10 of Hun School (NJ) committed to Norfolk State today and signed his Letter of Intent to play for the Spartans and Jerrell Wright '11 of Dobbins Tech (PA) committed to La Salle.

Williams, is doing a post-graduate year at Hun after graduating from Bodine (PA), but is young for a player in his fifth year. Standing 6'4, Williams is versatile enough to play the 1, 2, and 3 and should be able to fit into Norfolk State's system. According to Recruit Recon, Williams also fielded interest from schools such as Drexel, La Salle, Northeastern, Rider, and Temple. My source tells me that Williams is expected to play point guard at the next level.

Wright is a 6'8 power forward and one of the top juniors in Philadelphia's loaded class of 2011. The big man is coming off an outstanding performance at an iS8 game recently, when he dropped 38 points to go along with 16 rebounds. A large presence in the paint, Wright is a superb get for La Salle, as the Explorers continue to reel in talented players.

Once again, Pendarvis Williams has signed with Norfolk State and Jerrell Wright has made a verbal commitment to La Salle.
