by Alex Schwartz

Below, check out the interviews/school lists I got on Saturday night at the Prime Time Shootout. To read the ones from Saturday afternoon, click Here and to read the Saturday night recap, click Here.

Jerome Frink ’12, St. Anthony’s (NJ): USC and Virginia Commonwealth
                            Offers: None
                            Favorites: None
Note- Frink, who listed Georgia Tech as his dream school, discussed what it has been like getting extended playing time as a sophomore at St. Anthony’s. “It’s been a great opportunity because I get to show my stuff at an early age.”

Matt Rista ’10, St. Anthony’s (NJ): Caldwell and Army
                       Offers: Both
                       Favorite: “No, not yet, neither.”
Note- Rista, who plans to major in business and commit “within the next month”, expects to end up at one of those two schools. “I’ve waited long enough; I think I’ll end up at one of the two. I tried to give it a little time, but nothing worked out.”

Michael Gilchrist ’11, St. Patrick’s (NJ): Oregon, Villanova, Texas, Kentucky, Michigan, and Georgia Tech
                                  Offers: All
                                  Favorites: None
Note- Gilchrist said that those are the only six schools involved in his recruitment right now, but for more on my talk with him, go to my VUSports.com article right Here and also NBE Basketball Report article Here.

Jermaine Sanders ’11, Rice (NY): Villanova, St. John’s, Miami, Marquette, Boston College, Wake Forest, Pitt, Virginia, Virginia Tech, and Providence
Offers: Villanova, St. John’s, Boston College, Wake Forest, and Providence
                                     Favorites: “No, not right now.”
Notes- On what he is looking for in a college, Sanders said, “A school that is family-oriented, where I can play as soon as I get there, a coach . . . that will help me get better.” For more on my talk with Sanders go to click Here for my VUSports.com article.

Myles Davis ’11, St. Peter’s Prep (NJ)
Davis, a 6’2 shooting guard who is being recruited by Pitt, Georgetown, George Mason, Fordham, Virginia, Providence, St. John’s, and others led his St. Peter’s Prep team to a massive upset of Oak Hill Academy (VA) in the final game on Saturday night. Davis is unsure of his offers and has no favorites, and it is likely that more interest will pour in after his 33-point performance in the 84-81 victory that garnered him Most Outstanding Player honors. Davis missed all five of his shots inside the arc, but went 8/12 on threes and was 9/9 at the stripe. His eight threes tied a Prime Time Shootout record.”I’m speechless; I can’t even talk about it. We beat one of the nationally ranked teams. This was our fourth showcase game,” said Davis on what it felt like to knock off OHA, which had defeated St. Patrick’s (NJ) just one night earlier.
Asked if he knew he was capable of shooting the way he did, Davis remarked, “Yeah, I know what I’m capable of and my teammates and coach always tell me to shoot. I was feeling it.” This was despite being elbowed in the face in the third quarter by McDonald’s All-American Doron Lamb ’10 and missing time with a bloody lip. On the encounter, Davis said, “I
was just playing aggressive and Doron hit me with a cheap shot. He got away with it. . . . With them hitting me in my mouth, it changed the whole game.” What did the team and the coach say leading up to the showdown to make the Marauders believe they could win? “[Head] Coach [Mike] Kelly definitely said we lost by three to Christ the King [from NY], St. Anthony’s [from NJ in OT], and entered the fourth quarter leading Paterson Catholic [from NJ], but that didn’t turn out so well. . . . He told us they were beatable, they were not invisible, not unstoppable.”
