by Alex Schwartz
The teams ranked 76-100 in Northstar Basketball's National Preseason High School Top 100, as well as those that Just Missed, along with Honorable Mentions have been released (check out Part One for that). Now, continuing along with my list, it is time for the next edition of rankings, which will include those squads ranked between 51 and 75.
Remember that prep schools like Hargrave Military Academy (VA) and Word of God Academy (NC) are not eligible for the rankings. So, without further ado, here is Part Two of Northstar Basketball's National Preseason High School Top 100. Check out the teams ranked 51-75 in America:
51. The Miller School (VA): A trio of seniors leads one of the more underrated teams in America. Maryland-bound Mychal Parker is one of the elite players in the country, Brice Kofane '10 is a dominant defense presence, and Memphis-signee Hippolyte Tsafack '10 is another interior force.
52. Oak Ridge Military Academy (NC): Future Xavier Musketeer Jay Canty '10 is a great athlete and a superb talent, while Jacob Lawson '11 is a highly-skilled big man and Michael Neal '11 is another difference maker for the Tar Heel State team.
53. Wichita Heights (KS): The best team in the state of Kansas is led by sophomore sensation Perry Ellis, a skilled combo forward, with Evan Wessell '11 lending the youngster support on the squad that lost just one game last season.
54. Lawrence North (IN): The team will have to deal with losing a lot of talent, but there are two top-notch juniors on the roster in Michael Chandler and Ryan Taylor, both of whom are committed to Louisville. The alma mater of Greg Oden and Mike Conley also has Hulian Terrell '13 in the mix.
55. Price (CA): In order for the Golden State squad to live up to this lofty ranking, it will need its big two of Richard Solomon '10 down low and Allen Crabbe '10 on the wing to be outstanding. Solomon and Crabbe have both signed with Cal.
56. Plano West (TX): Baylor-bound Bakari Turner '10 leads the squad, but Jackson Jeffcoat '10—arguably the best football player in the nation—is a key as well, as he is no slouch on the hardwood. Big man Geoff Groselle '11 and Avery Redmond '10 will help out too.
57. Westlake (GA): Although a lot if talent is gone, there is still are still a lot of skilled seniors on the roster, including Clemson-bound Marcus Thornton '10, Jordan Brown '10, Central Florida football-commit Tony Jacob '10, and Colgate-signee Chad Johnson '10.
58. Detroit Country Day School (MI): Although not the top team in the Great Lakes State like usual, this team is still a force to be reckoned with. Led by point guard Ray McCallum '10 and big man Amir Williams '11, there will be a nice inside-outside attack.
59. Rock Bridge (MO): Entering the season as the top team in Missouri, Rock Bridge will have to fight off #97 Chaminade to keep that title. Missouri-bound Ricky Kreklow '10 and Justin Miller '11 are the top two players on the roster.
60. Benedictine (OH): Pitt-bound Cameron Wright '10 leads the way for the squad, with Central Michigan-commit Derek Jackson '10 and Nick Harney '10 as other key senior ballers.
61. Christian Life Academy (LA): The best team in the state of Louisiana features St. Joseph's-bound Langston Galloway '10 along with Patrick Robinson, Jr. '10, Kaleb Knight '10, Craig McFerrin '11, Avery Prince '10, and Corey Self '10 as other key components.
62. Jefferson (OR): Versatile combo forward Terrence Jones '10 is one of the best players in America and is going to have to carry Jefferson with some help out of Antoine Hosely '10.
63. Pike (IN): Point guard Marquis Teague '11 is considered one of the best players in the nation regardless of class and he will shoulder the load for the team, but Chandler Thomas '11 should not be overlooked.
64. Columbia (GA): In order for Columbia to maintain this lofty ranking, Northwestern-bound Jershon Cobb '10 will have to have a big season and Chris Grier '10 and Jordan Price '12 will need to be very good too.
65. Simeon (IL): One of the top teams in Illinois, the alma mater of Derrick Rose features of big-time duo of a senior and a freshman in Dayton-bound Brandon Spearman '10 and Jabari Parker '13, arguably the best player in his class in the country.
66. Arlington Country Day School (FL): When you lose two studs to graduation, you obviously are usually in for a down year and by the Sunshine State program's standards this will be, but Cincinnati-pledge Justin Jackson '10, Shawn Smith '12, and Kampertino Rolle '12 will look to make sure that the drop off is not too profound.
67. Penn Wood (PA): The best public school squad in Pennsylvania, the defending PIAA Class AAAA champions are led by Shawn Oakman '11, Tyree Johnson '10, and Aaron Brown '11. Some of the important role players will be Darian Barnes '11, Zaahir Allen '10, Dequan Pelzer '10, and William Brown '10.
68. Reserve Christian (LA): One of the nation's elite sophomores, Ricardo Gathers, will help Reserve Christian challenge #61 Christian Life Academy for the top spot in the Pelican State. Cedric Jenkins '10, Eduardo Gallina '10, Kyle McClue '10, and Louis Dabney '12 are the other quality ballers on this squad.
69. Duncanville (TX): After an extremely disappointing season for the 08-09 preseasno #1 squad, Duncanville loses five up its top six players, but does return one of the nation's top players in Perry Jones, a Baylor-bound big man. Jones, an inconsistent player, will need helo from his supporting cast of Luke Mergerson '11, Cameron Lenzy '11, Jeremy Atkins '11, and Deion Houston '12.
70. Sacramento (CA): Standout junior guard Josiah Turner, who was committed to Arizona State at one point, will team with Rice-bound Travon Abraham '10, Will Davis '10, and Robert Garrett '11 on one of California's many top-notch teams.
71. Madison Memorial (WI): Coming off of a fantastic season, the Badger State's top squad will need Marquette-signee Vander Blue '10 to carry the load, though he will get assistance from Junior Lamamba '12, Jamar Morris '12, and Tre Creamer '10.
72. St. Edward (OH): Louisville-commit Zach Price, a junior big man, leads the way for this Buckeye State squad. Delbert Love '11 and Matt Stainbrook '10 are two other vital members of the team.
73. Waukegan (IL): Although it is somewhat of a one-man show for Waukegan, it is a great one, with Illinois-bound Jereme Richmond '10 as the main man.
74. Scott County (KY): It will be a big battle between Scott County and #81 Holmes for the honor of being Kentucky's best team, but with the state's top senior, Ge-Lawn Guyn, in the fold, this group just might have the upper hand. Akron-signee Dakotah Euton '10 (a one-time Kentucky commit), Chad Jackson '10, and Tamron Manning '12 are the other key pieces of the puzzle.
75. Long Beach Poly (CA): Ryan Anderson '11 and Long Beach State-commit Shelton Boykin '10 are the go-to guys for this Golden State squad, while Alexis Moore '11 and Alex Carmen '11 are other prime components to the team's success.
