- NIA Prep (NJ) opened its season on Sunday night with a 102-28 victory over Stan Jones Prep (PA). Shaq Thomas '11 led the team with 20 points. Of the other four Eagles in double-digits, Kelvin Amayo '11 had 16 and Isaiah Williams '10 had 14. NIA's next game is against Massanutten Military Academy (VA) on Thursday.

- In other NIA Prep news, Head Coach Vincent Robinson informed me that Devon Gibson '10 has received an offer from UMES and will attend the school's Midnight Madness event. Gibson is doing a post-grad year after graduating from 2009 NJSIAA Group I state champion University (NJ).

- For almost the next month, Jeff Borzello of March Madness All Season will be doing an in-depth NCAA basketball preseason preview. Included are rankings by position, conference previews, and NCAA Tournament projections.

- Ramon Johnson '11 was a key member of the Science Park (NJ) team that won the Group II state title and advanced to the Tournament of Champions title game last year, but the big man is not returning to the school. According to two different sources, the junior big man is now at Newark Central (NJ).

- The Early Signing Period for class of 2010 prospects is exactly four weeks away. Many of the top players have already made their college choices, but a number of elite prospects still remain on the board. On November 11th, players will be able to officially sign with schools.

- For the first time, Duke will be having a Midnight Madness event. This comes on the heels of the Blue Devils recently hosting their first ever Elite Camp. Times are certainly changing in the college basketball recruiting world.
