Rayvonte Rice Talks Drake Commitment; Kyheim Hall to St. Francis (PA)

by Alex Schwartz

Of all the players in Northstar Basketball's Class of 2010 Terrific 125, the one player who might be most unknown is Rayvonte Rice of Centennial (IL). Ranked #123 on the list, Rice is a 6'2 shooting guard who is versatile enough to play the 1 or even move over to the 3 in the right system. Rice, along with #94 Ohio State-commit Lenzelle Smith '10, #107 Cal-bound Alex Rossi '10, and Iowa-pledge Ben Brust '10, led Rising Stars Gold into the semifinals of the AAU Super Showcase in Orlando. Recently, Rice took his name off the board and committed to Drake.

"I trust the coaches, [it is a] nice fit for me, a good situation to come in and play, [it is] not far from home, [and I] love the campus," stated Rayvonte on how he picked the Bulldogs. Before selecting the Missouri Valley school, the power guard also considered Nevada, Illinois State, Ohio, and Kent State. How does it feel to have the decision behind him? "It feels great. I mean, now I can focus on bringing another state title back." Asked if he would be recruiting other Drake targets to join him at the Iowa school, Rice responded, "I mean, I'm not, but I'll help however I can." Drake fans should be happy to have Rice aboard, as the in-state guard is a great get for Mark Phelps and Co.

In news that was broken on Saturday morning by Northstar Basketball via twitter, Kyheim Hall '10 of Pocono Mountain East (PA) has made his college decision. According to his high school coach Patrick Heaton, Hall, a sturdy combo guard, has committed to St. Francis (PA). Hall did not list the Red Flash when I spoke to him at The Hoop Group Elite Team Camp in mid-July, so it is possible the NEC made a strong push of late. Again, Kyheim Hall has committed to St. Francis (PA).
