Tristan Spurlock Player Diary Entry #1
A top 100 player in the class of 2009, Tristan Spurlock from Word of Life (VA) had a lot of college options, but decided on Virginia, where he has started his
freshman year. Spurlock was a member of the high-powered AAU squad Boo Williams along with fellow UVA freshman Jontel Evans, both of whom stuck with their commitments after Tony Bennett replaced Dave Leitao. Here's Tristan's first player diary entry:
Hey this is Tristan Spurlock. I am a student-athlete at the University of Virginia. So far school as been cool and very different from high school. The classes are bigger and the days are way longer, but there is more free time. For me, I have three classes on Wednesday that go from 9-9:50,10-10:50, and 11-11:50, but after that I'm done for the day for classes.
Last week we started workouts with the new staff, and they have been a lot harder than any high school workout I've ever had. The game is much faster and everyone is much stronger, so it takes a couple days to adjust to the speed. Workouts can be at almost anytime, 6am or 3pm, it doesn't matter. Just don't be late. The freshman duties haven't been that bad, yet. Besides me picking up all the equipment I haven't had to do too much, and I hope that stays true.
The schedule is out and we have a lot of tough games like Stanford and Kentucky, and we play in the best conference in the country which is the ACC! Well I got class in an hour and we got workouts today after so I gotta go. I'll be back in a week or two hopefully with an update on practice by then and hopefully Drake's CD comes out soon so have some new workout music. Peace.
