Reggie Cameron Player Diary Entry #1
Reggie Cameron '13 of Paterson Catholic (NJ) is considered one of the top incoming freshman in the state of New Jersey, and beyond. At 6'5, the combo forward has a versatile game that he demonstrated in the Basketball Spotlight All-Star Classic, where he started and scored 13 points. Check out Cameron's first player diary entry:
What's up! This is Reggie Cameron II from Hackensack, New Jersey. I'm a 6' 5 14-year old rising freshman about to start my basketball career at Paterson Catholic Regional HS. Although I considered other top parochial schools in the area like St. Anthony's, St. Peter's Prep and St. Benedict's, I chose
P.C. because of my
relationship with coach Damon Wright and my friendship with a bunch of
players on the team. The fact is I've always wanted to play with junior
Myles Mack and sophomore Kyle Anderson. Also I get to continue playing
with one of my best friends, Kavon Stewart, who is my Playaz Basketball
Club AAU partner who also decided to take this ride with me to
Paterson Catholic. I've been trying to get use to playing with my
future teammates. We played in a couple of tournaments together over
the summer and I've tried to learn how to do things the right way, mainly by watching some of my upperclassman teammates. I'm impressed by
the play of Seton Hall-bound senior Fuquan Edwin and senior Jayon
James. I'm particularly impressed by the all out hustle of junior
Derrick Randall!
This week me and five of my teammates took a trip to Syracuse University for an its elite camp. The first night we had a scrimmage game in the Carrier Dome. That was a great experience! I was shocked to see so many ex-Syracuse players such as Gerry McNamara, Hakim Warrick, Donte Greene, Johnny, Flynn and Demetris Nichols who coached our squads. I guess once and Orange always an Orange. I thought I did well at the camp, but I know I still have things to work on. My dad always tells me there's never a day where you can't get better at something in the game!
I start school September 9th and it's very important to my family that I do well academically, as well as on the court. As a matter of fact I received the St. Lucy Fillippini academic scholarship and it's more important that i do well academically. I will be working out with my teammates as much as I can until the season starts. I will be working hardest on improving my strength and quickness. I'm real excited about starting my high school career and hopefully I will have as much success as I've had as a grammar school player. I will keep you updated as the year goes by.
Until next time, Peace! RC II
