Myck Kabongo Player Diary Entry #1
Northstar Basketball recently released its list of 10 players who will be writing player diaries for the site. The
first baller to email me his entry was Myck Kabongo '11, a Texas-bound point guard from St. Benedict's (NJ). Check it out:
What's happening everybody?
My name is Myck Kabongo, and for those of you that don't know me... I'm a rising junior at St. Benedict's Prep. I want to start off by saying I'm thrilled at the opportunity I've been given by Northstar Basketball to start this diary throughout my season.
My summer has been a very busy one! I got to experience a lot of new things, but I really wish I could have spent a little more time at home because I was only there occasionally. I got to travel to Spain with my country's national team which was an honor. This was a new part of the world for me, which I never imagined I would see & we played well ,and yes, Canada Basketball is on the rise. Watch out USA! I also participated in a couple of AAU events with my team Grassroots Canada, where we've cultivated a winning attitude throughout 20 years of AAU basketball, so not winning a tournament with all the talent we had was a huge disappointment. Nonetheless it was a great experience to play with my friends Dwight Powell, JP, Brady Heslip, Shamar, JR, Josh, Cory Joesph (Cee'z),& Tristan Thompson (Trey) who are like brothers to me.
I got invited to a couple camps & also invited to play at the Elite 24 game which was something I've always had as one of my goals so it was nice to achieve that & do well in front of family & friends. Even though people feel like I had an amazing summer I always feel like I have things to work on in every area of my game. For basketballp layers that are on the rise or feel like they're established, never feel satisfied because there is always someone working hard everyday like me. My brothers have taught me to stay humble & focused, so I'm just spreading some good old fashioned knowledge I've learned & that I practice each day I breathe. Always work hard, keep good first & everything else will take care of itself. I'm off to another hardworking week at school & then head home August 28th before coming back in September . Ill catch up with y'all then but follow me on twitter at www.twitter.com/yungswag12 until then. Holla!
P.S. The next entry won't be this long, lol. I promise to not bore you guys to death.
