Kelvin Amayo to Transfer to NIA Prep; St. Benedict's Cuts Prep Team

by Alex Schwartz

Kelvin Amayo '11 began his high school career at Hillside (NJ), where he spent two years before transferring to St. Benedict's (NJ) and reclassifying. Now, with two more years to go before graduation, Amayo has made another school switch. "I just transferred from St. Benedict's to NIA Prep. This will be [the] last high school I will be attending. I really think NIA will help me academically and help me get more reps on the court," wrote Amayo in a text message. Amayo would likely have had to transfer after this year anyway, as St. Benedict's (NJ) has cut its prep team, so Amayo would have been unable to play for the school in two years, as he would be a fifth year senior.

Amayo, a big point guard, is receiving interest from Georgia, Seton Hall, Rutgers, Tennessee, Western Kentucky, Indiana, Delaware, and Towson, with offers from WKU, Delaware, and Towson. He does "not yet" have any favorites. Once again, in news being first reported by Northstar Basketball, Kelvin Amayo is transferring from St. Benedict's to NIA Prep (NJ).
