News & Notes

- NIA Prep (NJ) is loading up, and after a fantastic first season in 08-09, the Eagles should be even better next year. According to NJHoops, a number of quality players will be headed to the Newark school in next year. The website has reported that Aishon White '10, formerly of Union (NJ), will be at NIA, as he would be ineligible at Union, due to his age. Jordan Robinson '09—now 2010—will be heading there from Rutgers Prep (NJ). These are just two of the players who will be key to Vincent Robinson's program.
- Team NJABC had a great weekend at the Central Jersey Hawks Shore Shootout. Both the U-17 and U-16 squads won the tournament, with the older team defeating a quality NJ Shore Shots team by one point in the semifinals, with Frantz Massenat '10 hitting a couple of free throws with four seconds to play.
- Lance Stephenson '09 of Lincoln (NY) remains on the board. He has waited much, much longer than Tyreke Evans did last year before finally selecting Memphis. At this point, it looks as though "Born Ready" will choose between Florida International, Florida, Maryland, and Arizona.
- Speaking of players still uncommitted, Khalil Murphy '09 of APEX Academies (NJ) is out there too. The 6'7 wing had recently told me that he wanted to have made his choice by May 20th, but clearly that did not happen. I'll try to get in touch with Murphy soon for an update.
