MAJOR NEWS!!! John Wall to Kentucky

by Alex Schwartz

The nation's best player is off the board, finally. John Wall '09, a 6'4 point guard from Word of God (NC) has made his college decision, and will attend the University of Kentucky next year. After reading conflicting reports this morning as to whether or not Wall had pledged to the SEC school, I reached out, via text message, to the player himself to get the real scoop. "Yeah I did" commit to Kentucky, confirmed Wall, though he stated, "No, not yet," regarding whether he has inked his National Letter of Intent. In fact, John said "I don't know," when I inquired when he would sign the dotted line. The late signing period ends tomorrow, but a player does not actually need to sign an NLI. Thus, it looks as though John Wall will indeed be playing for John Calipari in Lexington next season.

Wall joins the nation's top recruiting class, a group that includes 6'10 PF/C DeMarcus Cousins of LeFlore (AL), 6'11 C Daniel Orton of Bishop McGuinness (OK), 6'7 SF Darnell Dodson of Miami-Dade Junior College (FL), 6'6 SF Jon Hood of Madisonville North Hopkins (KY), and 6'0 PG Eric Bledsoe of Parker (AL). Those six players will team with Patrick Patterson and DeAndre Liggins, amongst others, to form a legitimate National Title contender. If Jodie Meeks returns to school, the Wildcats will be downright scary. Once again, John Wall has confirmed to Northstar Basketball that he has committed to the Kentucky Wildcats.
