- Here are a couple more late signing period tidbits for you:
South Florida
According to a source close to the situation, the Bulls have inked one of the biggest recruits in program history in Jarrid Famous, a JuCo big man.
East Stroudsburg (DII)
Duane Johnson of Penn Wood (PA) and Marcus Brown of Engineering and Science (PA) are signed, sealed, and delivered for the Warriors.
- Here's a little commitment catch up: According to numerous reports, Eric Bledsoe '09 of Parker (AL) committed to Kentucky this morning. Xavier Henry '09 of Putnam City (OK) is headed to Kansas, Kevin Parrom '09 of South Kent School (CT) selected Arizona, Nolan Dennis '09 of Richland Hills (TX) is bound for Baylor, Renardo Sidney '09 of Fairfax (CA) signed with Mississippi State instead of USC, and John Riek '09 of IMG Academy (FL) is bound for Mississippi State as well. Meanwhile, at the 2010 level, Markus Kennedy of Living Faith (NJ) donned a Villanova hat as his press conference.
- I have received word from a source close to the player that Eric Halejian '09 of Ramapo (NJ) has committed to DIII Ithaca.
- John Wall '09 of word of God (NC), Latavious Williams '09 of Christian Life Center (TX), and Lance Stephenson '09 of Lincoln (NY) are the three top uncommitted class of 09 ballers in America, and there is one school all three of them are considering: Memphis. Should Josh Pastner reel in any of them, it would make a big statement: "we're still here, even if John Calipari isn't." Wall will likely end up at Kentucky or Duke and Williams appears destined for Georgetown, though "Born Ready" may end up as a Tiger.
- Dontae Johnson '10 of The Pennington School (NJ) has seen the offers pour in for him over the past couple of weeks. A safety/wide receiver (he projects as a safety at the college level), who also plays AAU basketball with Team NJABC and was a First Team All-Prep (in Mercer County) basketball selection by the Trenton Times, Johnson is up to 11 offers, all of which are from BCS programs. Maryland, Michigan State, Minnesota, Virginia, North Carolina State, and UConn had previously offered and then there was a bit of a lull. Then Louisville extended a scholarship offer. Soon after it was Stanford. Then West Virginia and Syracuse joined the list the next day, followed soon after by Vanderbilt. Many of these schools have visited Pennington recently, as have other programs such as North Carolina, Tennessee, Michigan, and Navy. Other schools such as Georgia, Florida, Duke, Miami, Northwestern, Oregon, Pitt, Penn State, Temple, and Rutgers continue to show varying degrees of interest in the 6'3 gridiron star. The offers should continue to roll in for Johnson.
- On October 30th, Rivals listed 6'7 Khalil Murphy '09 of APEX Academies (NJ) as one of the top uncommitted small forwards in the nation. In the six months since then, there has no been one mention of Murphy on the site, as things have been seemingly silent for the talented wing. With only two weeks remaining in the late signing period it will be interesting to see what happens with Khalil, though kids can indeed commit after the 20th.
