Prime Time Shootout Live Running Blog- St. John Vianney (NJ) vs. New Egypt (NJ)

The last matchup of the evening and the final game of the 2009 Prime Time Shootout has begun, and it features the St. John Vianney (NJ) Lancers and the New Egypt (NJ) Warriors. St. John Vianney is led by players such as Mike Rotando '11 and Joe Badru '09. As for New Egypt, the two stars are Desmond Hubert '11 and Kevin Janowski '09, and the pair are both 6'7+. New Egypt was a lat addition to the PTS, replacing North Hunterdon (NJ). We're nearly through five minutes of play, so I'll get you caught up.

9:35pm- St. John Vianney is up 11-5 with 3:04 to go in the first quarter.

9:38pm- It's 16-10 St. John Vianney with 1:10 left in the first period of action.

9:40pm- Brian Shields '10 hit a trey in front of the New Egypt bench to make it 22-10 Vianney through eight minutes of play.

9:43pm- A deuce by Desmond Hubert '11 was answered by a three from Marc Teel '09, making it 25-12 Lancers.

9:45pm- With 5:35 to go in the half, it's 25-15 St. John Vianney.

9:50pm- The Lancers are up 25-16 midway through the second quarter.

9:51pm- Michael Murphy '11 drained a three for the Lancers, who now lead 28-16.

9:55pm- Joe Badru '09 scored scored Vianney, and then Kevin Janowski '09 nailed a triple for New Egypt, and it's now 30-20.

9:57pm- It's halftime, and the Lancers hold a 30-20 advantage.

10:10pm- With six minutes left in the third quarter, it's 34-22 St. John Vianney.

10:12pm- It's now 36-25 with five minutes left in the quarter.

10:14pm- Janowski grabbed an offensive board and was fouled going up. He made both free throws, and the deficit is down to single digits, 36-27, with about 4:30 to go in the third period of play.

10:16pm- Badru scored for for St. John Vianney and Hubert answered with a couple of free throws. It's 38-29 with less than three minutes in the quarter.

10:17pm- The Lancers' lead is down to seven points, 38-31, as New Egypt is fighting its way back into this game.

10:18pm- It's now a 6-0 run for the Warriors, who now trail 38-33. Vianney took a timeout with the clock reading 1:47.

10:20pm- A Desmond Hubert slam dunk off an alley-oop made it a three-point ballgame and then Janowski scored to make it 38-37.

10:21pm- The Warriors ended the quarter on a 10-0 run to and are down by just one point with eight minutes left.

10:24pm- A Hubert tip-in has given New Egypt a one-point lead, 39-38. Warriors are on an impressive 12-0 run.

10:25pm- Desmond Hubert just scored on an absolutely amazing alley-oop off a pass from Janowski to make it a 14-0 run.  The Lancers responded with a trey to make it 41 apiece.

10:26pm- A bucket by Hubert has given the lead back to New Egypt with about six minutes to play.

10:27pm- We're even at 43 with five minutes to play. This is turning into a great game, and the large New Egypt cheering section is really into it.

10:28pm- A Janowski jumper has given the Warriors a 45-43 lead with under four minutes to play. The Lancers have led by as much as 12 in this game, but the New Egypt run to end the third quarter really changed the direction of this affair.

10:30pm- New Egypt has its biggest lead of the night, 47-43.

10:32pm- With 2:29 to play, the Warriors are up by a half dozen after two free throws from Janowski.

10:33pm- Hubert, who has got to be close to a triple double, just blocked a shot and New Egypt gained possession of the ball, and called timeout with 2:16 left.

10:35pm- Pat Christopher '09 picked up his fourth foul with 2:14 to go, putting Hubert at the stripe, where he made both shots. It's an eight-point advantage for the Warriors.

10:37pm- New Egypt is in complete control of this game. Hubert just threw one down to make it a 10-point lead with under two minutes left. There's been a 22-point swing in the past 12 and a half minutes or so.

10:38pm- Christopher got an offensive board and put it in to make it 53-45. The Lancers then took a timeout. Christopher's bucket ended a 10-0 New Egypt run.

10:40pm- It's now 55-45 New Egypt, and the Warriors are riding a 28-7 run that has included two 10-0 stretches.

10:41pm- Craig Ganter '10 scored for Vianney and it's now 55-47. A Lancers timeout has stopped the clock with 45.7 to go.

10:42pm- A Vianney steal led to a Murphy bucket that cut the lead to a half dozen.

10:44pm- Badru scored for Vianney to make it a final score of 57-51 New Egypt. The Warriors came back from a 12-point deficit to win the game, and ended it on a 30-13 run.

10:46pm- Joe Badru was named MVP for St. John Vianney, while Desmond Hubert's 20 points earned him the MVP award for New Egypt.

10:54pm- I caught up with Kevin Janowski and Desmond Hubert after the game.
