Oak Hill Academy (VA), one of the top three teams in America, is meeting Linden (NJ) in the fourth game of the day. The OHA Warriors are undefeated through 30+ games and are coming off an emotional nine-point win over St. Patrick's (NJ) last night here at the Sovereign Bank Arena in the Saturday nightcap. Oklahoma-signee Keith "Tiny" Gallon '09, Virginia Tech-bound Lamont "MoMo" Jones '09, Glenn Bryant '09, Syracuse-pledge Baye Moussa Kieta '10, West Virginia-commit Bryon Allen '10, Pe'Shon Howard '10, and Doron Lamb '10 are the key players for the Mouth of Wilson, Virginia team. For Linden, Tevin Calhoun '09 is the team's top player, as St. Joseph's-pledge David Bruce '09 is out today. The game is well underway, and I'll fill you in on what's been going on.
3:30pm- Linden jumped out to a 5-0 lead, and has since pushed that up to a 15-8 advantage with 1:25 to go in the quarter, led by the three-point shooting of Tevin Calhoun '09.
3:32pm- With one minuted left in the first eight minutes of action, it's 15-10 Linden.
3:33pm- A three-point play the old-fashioned way by Bryon Allen '10, has made it 15-13.
3:34pm- We're through one quarter of play and Linden has is surprisingly ahead of the national powerhouse by two points, 15-13.
3:37pm- Linden, which seems rattled by OHA's fullcourt press, is now down 16-15 after a trey from Lamont "MoMo" Jones '09.
3:43pm- The Tigers are finally on the board in the second quarter after two free throws by Calhoun. We're through over four minutes this quarter, and it's 3-2 in favor of Oak Hill, with Linden leading the game 17-16.
3:44pm- Calhoun hit a triple to put Linden up by four, 20-16.
3:45pm- Doron Lamb '10 scored to make it 20-18 with about three minutes left in the half.
3:46pm- It's knotted up at 20 with 1:15 to go in the half.
3:47pm- Austin Alecxih '09 grabbed an offensive board after a missed dunk by Glenn Bryant '09, and he turned it into an old-fashioned three points, giving OHA a 23-20 advantage.
3:48pm- Alecxih hit the second of two free throws to give the Warriors their biggest leads of the game, four points, 24-20.
3:50pm- After Alecxih hit a pair of free throws, Tevin Calhoun ended the half with a monster dunk, and the Tigers trail 26-22 through 16 minutes of play.
4:02pm- Keith "Tiny" Gallon '09 has started the second half off strong. He had a block at one end and a deuce at the other. Bryon Allen then scored as well, so it's 30-22 Oak Hill.
4:04pm- Qadeer Lewis '10 hit one of two free throws at one end, and "MoMo" Jones found Bryant for an alley-oop at the other. Linden then scored off a goaltending call, making it 32-25 Warriors.
4:06pm- Oak Hill's tight, stifling defense is forcing a lot of Linden turnovers, though the Warriors still can't get a double-digit lead.
4:07pm- It's 34-27 Oak Hill with four minutes left in the third quarter.
4:09pm- The Warriors' lead is up to double-digits for the first time today, as a pair of free throws by Bryant have made it 38-27.
4:11pm- A putback jam by Bryant that brought forth a roar from the crowd has put OHA up by 13, 40-27.
4:12pm- Two free throws by Allen and a deuce from Bryant have given Oak Hill a 17-point cushion. The game is really slipping away from the Tigers, who were leading by as much as seven and were up as late as 14 minutes into the affair.
4:14pm- Oak Hill Academy is dominating the third period of play, and now leads 48-30.
4:16pm- Bryon Allen hit one of two free throws to make it a 19-point game with 12.2 seconds left in the quarter. Oak Hill got the offensive board after the miss on the second shot, and got the ball to Allen, who scored and was fouled, but missed his free throw.
4:17pm- The Linden Tigers are down 51-30 after three quarters of play. Oak Hill won that quarter by a score of 25-8 to take the commanding lead.
4:19pm- A dunk by Gallon about 16 seconds into the fourth quarter has made it 53-30.
4:22pm- Calhoun hit a three, and it's now 54-33 OHA.
4:23pm- Fellow Jordan Brand Classic All-American Game selections Jones and Gallon teamed up for a deuce, as Jones dished it to Gallon, who hit a jumper.
4:24pm- It's 58-35 Oak Hill with 5:40 to play.
4:26pm- A slam by Calhoun has made it 60-37.
4:28pm- Tevin Calhoun has fouled out with 3:38 to go in regulation, with his team trailing 64-37.
4:29pm- A big dunk by "Tiny" Gallon has put Oak Hill up by 29, 66-37.
4:31pm- Pe'Shon Howard took a pass from Jordan Gallagher '09, got fouled, and made two free throws. The Oak Hill lead has ballooned to over 30 points, and it's now 68-37 with under three minutes to go.
4:34pm- It's 70-37 with 1:21 left in the game. Oak Hill has had none of its starters on the floor for a few minutes now.
4:35pm- Linden has cleared its bench with just under 30 seconds left, giving some other players a chance to play.
4:36pm- A basket by Baye Moussa Kieta just before the buzzer made it 74-37, so Oak Hill has a 37-point win and doubled-up the Tigers.
4:37pm- Tevin Calhoun was named MVP for Linden, dropping 25 of his team's 37 points, and hitting five threes. For Oak Hill Academy, Glenn Bryant was named MVP, scoring 10 points.
4:52pm- I caught up with Tevin Calhoun and Lamont "MoMo" Jones after the game.
6:43pm- I was able to catch up with Baye Moussa Kieta as well, just before Oak Hill left the arena.
