Prime Time Shootout Live Running Blog- Timber Creek (NJ) vs. St. Raymond's (NY)

The second game of the day is well underway, and pits a New York City Catholic School powerhouse against a New Jersey public school squad. St. Raymond's (NY) is led by Tyreak Johnson '09, Harold McBride '10, and Nkereuwem Okoro '12 amongst others. For Timber Creek (NJ), it's Navy-pledge Montez Blair '09 and Collin Johnson '09 that are the main men. I'll fill you in on how this one is shaping up.

12:10pm- With three minutes left in the first quarter, the game is tied at 7.

12:13pm- Montez Blair '09 scored three points the old-fashioned way and then scored a deuce to put Timber Creek up 12-9.

12:16pm- Timber Creek is up 14-11 through eight minutes of play.

12:25pm- With just under four minutes to go in the half, Timber Creek leads 22-21.

12:29pm- A tough deuce from Sidiki Johnson '11 has given St. Ray's a 26-24 advantage.

12:32pm- At halftime, St. Raymond's is up 30-26.

12:50pm- After a bit of a delay in starting the second half due to a problem with the foam on one of the backboards, we're back underway, and Jose Rodriguez '11 hit the second of two free throws for St. Ray's to put the Ravens up 31-26.

12:51pm- A deuce from Blair was answered by a trey by Tyreak Johnson '09, giving St. Raymond's a 34-28 lead.

12:58pm- St. Raymond's is ahead 36-32 with 2:40 left in the third quarter.

12:59pm- Mar'quis Jones '09 scored for the Chargers to to make it a two-point game with about 10 minutes left in the game.

1:00pm- Jones hit a tough shot to tie the game at 36 with around one minutes left in the third period of action.

1:02pm- We're through 24 minutes of play, and the game is tied at 36.

1:07pm- With 5:55 left, Tyreak Johnson hit a trey to open the scoring in the final quarter and put the Ravens up 39-36.

1:08pm- Jones hit a three to tie the game at 39 with about five minutes left in regulation.

1:10pm- Alex Smart '09 hit a tough runner for Timber Creek, got fouled, and made his shot from the line, giving the Chargers a 41-38 advantage, their first lead of the half.

1:11pm- Mar'quis Jones is having a huge second half. He just scored again to put his team up by five, 44-39, leading to a St. Ray's timeout with 3:17 to go in the game. Timber Creek is on a 16-3 run.

1:13pm- A triple from Tyreak Johnson has sliced the Chargers' lead down to two, 44-42.

1:15pm- Sidiki Johnson grabbed an offensive rebound and scored to tie the game at 44.

1:17pm- Tyreak Johnson hit a couple from the line, making it a 7-0 run for the Ravens, who now lead 46-44.

1:20pm- Two more free throws from T. Johnson with under 20 seconds left have made it 48-44. St. Ray's is on a 9-0 run.

1:21pm- Jones just nailed a trey to make it a one-point game with nine seconds left.

1:22pm- The clock is showing 6.7 seconds remaining, and Harold McBride '10 is going to be at the line for the Ravens after a timeout, which was called by Timber Creek.

1:23pm- McBride hit both shots and then Blair came up just short on a tough three at the other end, so St. Raymond's has won 50-47, ending the game on an 11-3 run to counter a 16-3 run by the Chargers.

1:25pm- Montez Blair was named MVP for Timber Creek, scoring 20 points. Tyreak Jonhson was the honoree for St. Raymond's, scoring 20 points and hitting four treys.

1:46pm- I spoke with Nkereuwem Okoro, Tyreak Johnson, and Sidiki Johnson after the game.
