The second game of the day is about to begin here at the Pavillion on the campus of Villanova. The Pennsbury (PA) Falcons are meeting the Norristown Area (PA) Eagles in a non-Philly PA public school showdown. Dalton Pepper '09 of Pennsbury is headed to West Virginia next year, while Khalif Wyatt '09 of Norristown will take his game to Temple. Pepper vs. Wyatt will be the main battle to watch in this one. The game is about to begin.
2:08pm- Marcus Healey '09 of Pennsbury opened up the game scoring with a deuce.
2:09pm- Khalif Wyatt '09 missed a trey for Norristown, and Dalton Pepper '09 then hit one for Pennsbury, so it's 5-0 early.
2:10pm- Wyatt dumped it off down low to Tom Smith '10 who scored the first points of the game for the Eagles.
2:11pm- Pepper hit a mid-range J for Pennsbury to give the Falcons a 7-2 lead.
2:12pm- Lorenzo Christmas '09 hit a trey for Norristown, so it's now 7-5 about halfway through the first quarter.
2:13pm- A deuce from Jesse Krasna '10 gave Pennsbury a 9-5 advantage.
2:14pm- Goran Dulac '09 scored for Pbury, and then Wyatt missed a shot for Ntown. Eddie DiRugeris '09 used a nice spin move at the other end to drop in a bucket for the Falcons, who now lead 13-5 with under 2:30 to go in the first period of action.
2:15pm- Wyatt missed an open three from the corner. The future Temple Owl is struggling to get his shot going, and has yet to score through six minutes of play.
2:17pm- With under a minute to go in the first quarter, Wyatt missed another three. Pepper was then short on a three of his own at the other end.
2:18pm- James Ramsey '09 scored for Ntown to make it 13-7, which will be the score entering the second quarter. Pennsbury has held Khalif Wyatt scoreless through eight minutes of play.
2:28pm- With 1:18 to go in the first half, Pbury leads 24-17. Wyatt has found his shot in the second period of action.
2:29pm- Krasna had a shot that went off the front rim, but he grabbed his own board and scored on his second attempt. At the other end, Christmas hit a pair at the line with under 40 seconds to go. It's 26-19.
2:31pm- Pepper missed a trey with about seven seconds left, and despite getting the offensive board, Pbury couldn't score. Christmas was then short on a shot from halfcourt, so it will be 26-19 at the intermission.
2:42pm- Pepper scored early to open up the scoring in the second half.
2:44pm- Christmas and Pepper exchanged a couple of free throws. The score is 30-21.
2:45pm- Christmas scored again for Ntown, which now trails 30-23.
2:47pm- Christmas is on fire. He took the ball to the hole and laid in in for a deuce, cutting the Falcons' lead down to five.
2:48pm- Dalton Pepper somehow banked in a three from near the corner, making it 33-25.
2:49pm- Jarrell Gardner '09 just picked up his fourth foul with 3:48 to go in the third quarter, sending Tom Marcinkowski '09 to the line, where he made a pair to give Pbury a double-digit lead.
2:51pm- Pepper drove to the rack and missed a jam, but Krasna would eventually score on the team's third opportunity to make it 37-25.
2:53pm- Sheldon Mayer '10 was just called for his fourth foul, putting Dalton Pepper at the stripe, where he drained a pair of shots to give Pennsbury a 14-point lead, its biggest of the game.
2:54pm- A Ramsey bucket ended a 9-0 run by the Falcons.
2:55pm- Dulac hit the first of two at the stripe, making it 40-27.
2:56pm- With the clock showing 1:15, Pepper came out of the game, and Ntown immediately took advantage. Wyatt scored three points the old-fashioned way—the foul was on Dante Devine '10—just one second after Pepper got to the bench.
2:58pm- Wyatt missed a finger roll on a fast break, and then the next time down the court was fouled going up for a shot with 16.4 left, and hit both shots at the charity stripe, and Pepper re-entered the game.
2:59pm- Pepper went to the line with 0.1 seconds left in the quarter, and made the first of two shots. Pennsbury leads 41-32 through 24 minutes of action.
3:03pm- With 7:13 to go in the final period of action, Tom Smith went to the line for Ntown and the second of a pair.
3:04pm- After a miss by DiRugeris, Christmas scored on a finger roll to make it a six-point game, 41-35, leading to a Pbury timeout with 6:41 left.
3:05pm- Dulac hit the first of a couple from the stripe, making it 42-35, with under 6:30 to play.
3:06pm- A deuce by Smith has made this a five-point game. Pennsbury leads 42-37, and has just called a timeout with 5:55 remaining in regulation, as they almost lost possession of the ball.
3:08pm- Pepper fouled Tom Smith, who scored three points the old-fashioned way. Ntown then stole the ball in the backcourt and Waytt scored to tie the game at 44. Pbury is being outscored 12-3 in the fourth quarter.
3:09pm- The Falcons have scored back-to-back to re-gain the lad, 46-42. A Norristown timeout has stopped the clock with 4:36 left.
3:11pm- Wyatt was called for traveling at one end, and Pepper missed a three at the other. Khalif Wyatt then drained a triple in front of the Ntown bench to make it a one-point game.
3:12pm- Wyatt missed a transition three that would have given Ntown the lead. He was then called for his third personal foul with 2:43, putting Krasna at the stripe, where he hit a pair.
3:13pm- Smith scored for Ntown and Devine answered for Pbury. It's 50-47.
3:14pm- Both teams missed shots down low, and then Sheldon Mayer knocked down a trey to tie the game at 50 with 1:26 to go.
3:16pm- Wyatt knocked the ball away from Pepper as he drove to the hoop, but Ntown couldn't take advantage at the other end. Pepper then scored on a finger roll with under 20 seconds left.
3:17pm- Norristown has the ball and has called timeout with 13.8 seconds left, trailing 52-50.
3:18pm- Wyatt drove past Pepper but was picked up by a big man, kicked it to the corner, and the ball was passed into the post to Smith, and the 6'3 junior used a spin move to get open and laid it in as time expired. We are headed to overtime with the score even at 52.
3:20pm- Pbury got possession first, but turned it over. At the other end, Krasna fouled Wyatt as he hit a shot down low, sending him to the line, where he missed his free throw. Ntown leads 54-52, the Eagles' first lead of the game.
3:22pm- The Falcons couldn't score, but then the Eagles turned it over with under 2:40 left in the first OT. Pepper then crossed up Wyatt, but missed, yet Marcinkowski got the board and put it in, tying the game at 54 with the clock showing 2:26.
3:24pm- Christmas missed a shot for Ntown, and then Smith fouled DiRugeris, an he made both shots at the line, putting the Falcons up 56-54 with under two minutes left.
3:26pm- Khalif Wyatt missed a three with less than 90 seconds left. Pbury then called timeout with exactly 1:00 to go.
3:28pm- Pepper scored with 24 seconds left after a drive to the hole and Wyatt fouled him. Pepper made the free throw, putting Pennsbury up by five, 59-54. Norristown then brought the ball over halfcourt and called timeout with 18.9 left.
3:30pm- Wyatt missed a three and Krasna got the board. He was then fouled with 7.9 seconds left and made both shots. It's 61-54.
3:31pm- A trey at the buzzer from Wyatt fell short, so Pennsbury has a 61-54 victory.
