Prime Time Shootout Live Running Blog- Lower Merion (PA) vs. Coatesville (PA)

The third game of the day is well underway. The Aces of Lower Merion (PA) are squaring off with the Red Raiders of Coatesville (PA). Lower Merion, the alma mater of Kobe Bryant, is led by Richmond-bound guard Greg Robbins '09 and Harley Williamson '09. For Coatesville, 6'9 Jahmahl Slater '09 is the main man. We are already over four minutes into the contest.

3:59pm- With 3:31 left in the first quarter, it's 8-7 Lower Merion. Gerg Robbins '09 has five points for the Aces.

4:02pm- Robbins scored twice more, the second of which was three, to make it 13-7 in favor of Lower Merion. The Red Raiders then called timeout with 1:45 to go in the quarter.

4:04pm- The Lower Merion student cheering section is right behind press row, just a bit to my left, and they are very loud and supportive, despite there being only about 25 of them.

4:05pm- Jahmahl Slater '09 hit the second of two from the stripe to make it a 13-8 game with less than 40 seconds left in the quarter.

4:06pm- Lower Merion missed a three at the buzzer, so it's 13-8 through eight minutes of action.

4:09pm- Harley Williamson '09 hit the second of two at the line with 6:44 to go in the first half. It's a six-point ballgame.

4:10pm- Patrick Brewer '10 scored for Cville, and Williamson answered with a tip-in at the other end, on the Aces' third opportunity.

4:11pm- Jonathan Warmijak '10 of Coatesville then scored a deuce to make it 16-12.

4:13pm- Williamson scored for Lower Merion. He is controlling the second quarter for the Aces, after Robbins was in charge of the first period.

4:14pm- A trey from Patrick Brewer made it an 18-15 game.

4:15pm- Another deuce from Williamson made it 20-15, but Brewer quickly responded with a bucket of his own.

4:16pm- Alon Seltzer '10 nailed a trey for the Aces, who now lead 23-17, with under three minutes to play in the first half.

4:17pm- A deuce from Robbins has made this an eight-point affair.

4:18pm- After falling behind by 10, Cville quickly answered with a bucket to make it 27-19.

4:19pm- Williamson was called for a charge with 3.8 seconds left in the half, giving the ball back to the Red Raiders under their own hoop. Langston Womac '10 missed a halfcourt shot at the buzzer, so it will be 27-19 in favor of Lower Merion after 16 minutes of play.

4:33pm- It's 27-21 a minute into the second half.

4:34pm- Robbins knocked down a triple to put Lower Merion up by nine, 30-21.

4:35pm- Williamson missed a pair of free throws and then Kenneth Thompson '10 was called for a charge at the other end, giving the Aces the ball back.

4:36pm- A deuce from Williamson has made it 32-21.

4:39pm- Blair Martinez '10 scored for Cville, and then Matt McKenna '11 cut to the hole at the other end, received a pass and laid it in, making it 36-25.

4:42pm- Seltzer scored three points the old-fashioned way for Lower Merion after receiving an inbounds pass in the low post. It's now 39-26 in favor of the Aces.

4:43pm- Lower Merion took a 30 second timeout and then Cville called a full timeout with the clock showing 1:24 in the third quarter, leading 39-26.

4:46pm- Robbins has put the Aces up by 15 after making a nice move to get to the hole and laying it in.

4:47pm- Slater hit a free throw for Cville and Lower Merion answered with a deuce, but Cville got the last word in the half scoring to beat the buzzer. The Aces are up 43-29 with eight minutes left.

4:49pm- A layup from Martinez was answered by a bucket from Robbins. It's 45-31.

4:51pm- Williamson fed Seltzer to make it a 16-point game with just over six minutes left in regulation.

4:53pm- Soon after an exchange of baskets, Lower Merion called timeout leading 49-33. The clock is showing 4:13.

4:56pm- Back-to-back buckets from Williamson have made it a 20-point game with under 2:30 to go.

4:58pm- The score is 55-35 in favor of Lower Merion with 1:38 left in the game. Robbins and Williamson are both out for the Aces, as they have a comfortable lead.

5:02pm- The final horn has sounded, and the Aces of Lower Merion have a 59-37 win.

5:24pm- Blair Martinez was selected as the MVP for Coatesville, while Greg Robbins was the honoree for Lower Merion. After the contest, I spoke with Harley Williamson and Greg Robbins.
