BREAKING NEWS!!! Maalik Wayns Likely Out for Season (UPDATED)

by Alex Schwartz

I just got off the phone with a source with knowledge of the situation, who has informed me that Villanova-signee Maalik Wayns '09 of Roman Catholic (PA) is likely done for the season. The ultra-talented senior point guard injured his meniscus on Monday against Cardinal O'Hara (PA) and will probably not return, so Wayns' high school career may well be over. This is a big loss for Roman Catholic, which will now have to rely on Rakeem Brookins '10 to run the point and fill the scoring void. In order for Wayns to be eligible for the McDonald's All-American game, he has to play in 50% of his team's games, and it seems that he has met this requirement. Again, in news being first reported by Northstar Basketball, Maalik Wayns is likely out for the season with a meniscus injury.
